I for the life of me don't know why Destiny's Child was ever a girl group. It was always a Beyonce vehicle and the other girls were treated terribly. Why she just wasn't a solo act from the get go with backing singers (to do the heavy lifting in those live performances) is beyond me.

Michael Knowles was known for being obsessed with making his daughter a star. He clearly was living through his daughter if that makes sense. I get the impression that his relationship with Beyonce isn't as great as they like to portray. Still, I feel really sad that the other girls like Latoya were virtually ignored and treated like pawns for Michael to push his daughter into the spotlight. Rumour is they complained and Michael canned them.

The Eagles actually reunited. When they famously stated that they would only come back "when Hell freezes over," their reunion tour was literally titled "Hell Freezes Over" in 1994. Ten years later in 2004, they had their farewell tour to wrap up their music journey together after firing Don Felder in 2001. And then Glenn Frey passed away in 2016. Despite saying they'd never perform again, Don Henley reversed that decision and Frey's son, Deacon, joined.

Van Halen both with DLR and Hagar. Eddie hated Dave going off and making a solo record and with Sammy it was the "Best of" album and wanting a break. Foreigner between Mick Jones and Lou Gramm. Jones screwed Gramm out of writing credit on "I Want To Know What Love Is". Lou would return for one more album but the resent still lingered and still does to this day. Styx firing of Dennis DeYoung and Journey's firing of Steve Perry.

Styx and Journey were the same issue - lead singer had health problems, band decided they wanted to tour anyway and fired them. Styx is especially bad, basically Tommy Shaw would rather play the county fair circuit with what he thinks Styx should be rather than the much better selling version headed up by DeYoung's writing and singing. With Van Halen, Sammy was ready to pretty much retire before he joined the band, and he finally got burned out on Eddie's bullshit. The breaking point was said to come with the song "Humans Being" for the Twister soundtrack, where the band was told not to hand in a song of cheesy tornado references, and that's exactly what Sammy wrote for the first draft. Sammy once said in an interview that he hoped it would get him fired.

@@DerekScottBland Kind of a bad take on Styx. If it were up to DeYoung, Styx were destined to be come a slightly edgier Barry Manilow. He was all in on the schmaltzy ballads, where as most of the band preferred their more rock oriented stuff. They were unhappy with the direction they were being dragged. It started the tension that his health issues flared to the point of breaking. Creative differences were the at the root of it all. Money isn't the be-all and end-all, especially when you're miserable and just going through the motions. I saw them in 2012, at a rock festival with about 12K other people, and those guys were having FUN.

There are some groups that do reform and then realise they probably shouldn't. My family is running a betting pool on how long Oasis's comeback tour lasts. TBH most of these just sound like reasonable decisions to me. I never understood staying in a toxic environment when you have the option to leave (domestic violence excluded)
