Retail employee - have had many experiences with Karens at various workplaces. The personal sweetest anti-Karen justice was very simple - Karen complains to me about mask mandate during pandemic while I'm working on Men's socks for about a half hour solid. She also haressed various other employees there. She ended up coming back a few months later complaining about how she got COVID-19, and her adult had died from it, I acted all sympathetic, of course, as an adorable female Walmart employee at that sort of stuff should but literally made my day just a bit better because she deserved all of that suffering.

Karen #15 (Plane Karen) moved to my city. She comes in my store a lot and acts just as entitled when she does, often cutting through the line of customers to plop her stuff at an empty register that's not in use, yelling across the store at the clerks for her cigarettes while we're waiting on other customers, and acting astonished when we continue waiting on customers who are patiently waiting in line when she goes back to the empty register where she deposited her stuff... even when that register clearly has no clerk working it. One of the most entitled customers we have to deal with.

I tried to tell him that his fare was lower than the starting amount of the rate he thought I was charging him, but he demanded to speak with the supervisor (classic Karen move). Most of these people are mentally unstable or just miserable human beings to start with, or bizarre super nosey pain in the ass people as it is. Some are just foul, unbearable people who get wrapped up in crap that has nothing to do with them but they just can't help but push their way into things. Annoying for sure. And horrible people come in every size shape and color. But it's only the white women who have their own special little slur name made up just for them and a whole category of memes created just for them and get tracked down, doxed, put on national "news", reported to their employers, flooded with calls, receive death threats, and lose their jobs. Lose their ability to feed their families...and blackballed from future opportunities. I'm not so sure that acting like an asshole and getting caught on video always necessarily makes someone deserving of all that some of these people get. A lot of them literally are ruined by these videos of their actions. I'm not saying it's ok to act like that. It's not, not by a long shot. But it's rarely deserving of ruining someone's life completely and leaving them the target of angry people making death threats and some getting a little close to home... I just don't think that's what justice looks like. And it's a bit wrong to have only women of a particular race singled out to be the butt of the joke as well as the target of some pretty harsh criticism and vitriol...and hate ...and violence.... You could get compilations of videos of any demographic group acting badly. But we all know that if I was to make a compilation of black women acting wassy out of line, going nuts I er nothing, running their mouths spewing racist crap and proving how hateful and stupid they are, I could easily put together those clips for a video....but not a one of them would be targeted and threatened with violence ...you know nobody would get fired from a job. And the story damn sure wouldn't ever make it in the "news"...not unless the story they were running was about the 3vikbhatefuk racist video compilation was made and has been being seen around the Internet...and they're trying to figure out how to bring the creator of the video to justice... Because there's a glaring double standard in this country. But really, please name one time in history there's ever been an oppressed people who had so much power that they could take control, turn things around, and see the so-called oppressor punished and humiliated and society celebrates her downfall... The most powerful "oppressed" in history...beating down the so-called "oppressor" once again...

Today I was doing my grocery shopping with my kids and my 3 year old daughter started crying. She'd had no nap and was just being a grump. Until this old man came up and literally screamed at the top of his lungs at her 6 inches from her face. Followed by him telling me to learn how to control my kid. It obviously made things worse. I was in tears but was thankful for all of the other patrons and fellow moms who told me I was doing a good job and the best that I could and that guy was just being a miserable jerk. Some people just wake up in the morning and pour themselves a nice tall glass of audacity. 😒 the whole situation hurt my soul but was starting to heal seeing the support of other patrons and the 10 year old little boy who offered to try to make my little girl laugh by making silly faces... So much for holiday cheer 😒

I feel that pain. I was trying to hastily finish at the self-checkout with my 3-year-old (now 21) who was screaming "I WANT A TOY!!!" because like a moron I walked down the impulse buy toy aisle on the way to the register. I was doing my best to give him no reward for yelling while scrambling to pay for the milk, hoping he would learn that tantrums get you nothing. Not sure this was ever a solid strategy but that was what I was attempting that week, anyway. So this old bat walks up and sneers, "You ever heard of spanking?" and wheels away because of course she can throw shade but heaven forbid she give you a chance to tell her off. I managed to say, "You ever heard of minding your own business?" but I have a soft voice and she caught me off-guard. I went out, fastened my son into his seat, got into mine and sobbed. He was not an easy kid to handle and I was exhausted as it was, and some old b!tch takes it upon herself to feed her ego through a sanctimonious shot of venom. I hate people who don't give a damn about anything or anyone but themselves and walk around smug in the false knowledge that they're such good people. And my son is currently in college and does not, in fact, think the world owes him a toy, lol. He wouldn't say no to a nice game at Christmas but he is absolutely not entitled despite my meandering attempts at discipline back when he was too young to understand it.

I believe I just had a first-time live experience with a real Karen. I went to Walmart and was checking out and my part was kind of angle because the way they had the self-checkout and I heard this older woman people needed to move and she was cussing and just being absolutely rude and I thought she was talking about me so I yelled to her "hey lady if you wanted someone to move you could have asked nicely, you don't have to be rude". At which point this lady went from zero to 60 in like 2 seconds and started verbally berating me, cussing at me (in front of my nine-year-old mind you), and just being incredibly rude and disrespectful. I wasn't going to argue with her so I just kept saying "you can leave now Karen" every time she would try to say something. The second time I said that, she fired back the typical response that you always here with a Karen "my name's not Karen". After saying "you can leave now Karen" about 10 times, she finally left. Then after a few minutes she came back for round two and started verbally abusing me again (some guy behind me even told her that she shouldn't have been saying bad words in front of kids and she just completely ignored him), and she continued to verbally berate me. I again repeating the same phrase "you can leave now Karen" until she left again. Once I completed my purchase says, I went out to my car to put them away but realize there was something at the bottom of the cart that I missed and hadn't paid for so I went to go back in to pay for it and the lady was in the parking lot still and I kid you not she went in on me a third time as I was going into the store. At that point I just told her "grow up and act your age Karen", and then ignored her. Geez Louise, all that over me telling her she didn't have to be rude🤦♀️🙄 I have a feeling that had she not been an older lady on a "disability cart", she probably would've gotten physical with me as she was that irate🙄

A women with a walker was having a hard time getting in and I wasn't about to risk getting sick by helping her as we were at a hospital. When she got in she yelled. "You could have done your job and helped me!" I had shorts a thin strap take top and sandals none of which a worker there would be allowed to ware while on the clock. Further more I had no badge which the one always did so everyone knew their name just in case. The look on her face when the worker came back after five minutes of dirty looks and us just sitting there dealing with her calling me lazy as well as other insults and saying I needed to be fired her eyes showed pure fear and then as she said sorry they showed anger when she looked at me as if I hadn't told her when I did after her comment once she was inside the doors with me I even told her the staff told me he was in the bathroom and would be back. I did something similar- I walked in to a food shop in my town (a small one) and some absolute HORRIBLE individual was shouting at a young lass working behind the till- I had no context to what had caused it so picked my few items up and went to queue- he was STILL yelling at her (she looked on the brink of tears 😢) and security could not remove him… I’d been patient and kept my nose out until this point but I couldn’t STAND it anymore as I would want someone to stick up for me in the same situation and no one was helping this poor girl! So same as you, let him know EXACTLY what I thought and to leave her the hell alone- he seemed so shocked at first and tried to argue his point with me but I was having NONE of it by now! He left on his own accord after that and security gave me a ‘thank you’ nod and I got a free carrier bag when getting my stuff- but to be honest it’s not about being appreciated, I’m just more shocked that someone else didn’t stand in and left it to me, a 6 and a half stone girl! I used to work a tourism job and sadly Karens were a very common thing… One perfect example was this woman who was extremely racist/homophobic, would throw tantrums when she didn’t get what she wanted, had the haircut, and targeted specific employees because they wouldn’t bend the knee to her. We reopened during the later part of Covid in late 2020, all staff had to wear mask and we would only let a certain amount of people in at a time and made sure they stayed 6 feet apart. She luckily came in during an extremely slow day so we didn’t have to deal with her breaking those rules but even though she could’ve kept things civil she continuously gave employees crap for wearing masks and was pissed she couldn’t eat indoors (we still offered service outside) so already becoming a problem. However, what got her in enough trouble to finally kick her out (and arrested) was involving our rides, we had re-opened only one as the rides were not a massive moneymakers anyway so we just kept our carousel open, we limited the number of riders and required a mask during riding (it was also cleaned heavily after every ride,) so what is the first thing she does? Well, she gives the operator crap for wearing a mask and then when she’s told that a mask was required she told the operator to die, so the operator told her she couldn’t come on… Now, what was her response to this? Oh right, she threw stuff at the operator tried to kick open the door to the ride, and then threaten to call the police! Well the police were called and last I heard she was found guilty of destruction of property and assault. Seriously, I don’t get what kind of mindset would make you think that was going to work because yes entitlement is part of it but you have to be a bit unhinged to think attacking someone and destroying property would end positively?

Me, my mom and my brother went to see the Mario Movie at my local theater. We sat on our seats and an older woman started complaining that my mom was sitting on her seat. She did not give up until we got up and sat on other seats, just as the movie started. So yeah, I hope she someday gets what she deserves.

Back when I worked for Office Depot, it was about two or so months after I started. I was handling a line with my former coworker late at night. This one woman walks up to my register, dressed in full yoga gear, had her hair in a bun, and I think was wearing sunglasses (at night? 🤨) It surprisingly went ok, until she tried to select her receipt. She pulled out her card and tapped the corner of it on the card reader screen 5 or so times, she tried to leave. I told her she still needs to pay and THATS when she started freaking out. She started talking down to me, full-on looking down her nose. Every time I said something her response had this saccharine sweet sarcasm laced in it. Thankfully she left without going absolutely nuclear. But the moment she was out of earshot, I definitely cussed her out.

@@linkais3875 the funny thing is it wasn’t long after that when I left, and passed a car accident on the way home, didn’t look too serious as far as I can remember. The schadenfreude-lover in me hoped she was in that wreck.

Sounds like she thought she could trick you into thinking she paid and got mad when she couldn't. 😂🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️

My most memorable experience with a Karen was when I worked in loss prevention and arrested her daughter. CUE MASSIVE OVERREACTION resulting in a whole bunch of charges including obstruction, assault, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. I posted the story on Reddit and it apparently made it to the front page, then some guy on KZbin decided to narrate it. You can find it on here if you look hard enough, but I'm not posting a link.
