Pidgeotto did tend to go unnoticed, sadly. Especially, I think, because of Ash having the three original starter Pokemon. I was even more disappointed when Ash let him go after becoming Pidgeot.

Pidgeotto didn't get much screen time. It only use to appear for its gust attack when battling team rocket etc. Didn't really get much battles under its belt. When it evolved into Pidgeot, this was the perfect opportunity for Ash to use him for battles etc. Unfortunately he had to go. On his bird Pokémon. Imo Swellow was the one who really impressed and became a crucial member for his Hoenn team

I suppose we're similar but also different. I loved Pokémon growing up and still play most of the mainline games to this day. But the anime was too repetitive for me. I've seen many anime and Pokémon would have to be somewhere in the 30s or 40s, only held up that high because of nostalgia alone. But if its your favorite, more power to you! Charizard is probably my favorite Pokémon of all time for a few reasons His great arc in the anime of being abandoned and viewed as weak as a Charmander but becoming one of Ash’s most reliable and powerful allies Then his other great arc of not listening to Ash for a bit but eventually becoming his 2nd greatest Pokémon ally behind Pikachu And finally, my biggest reason for liking Charizard the most…. Do you think the writers should have gotten some loose ends tied up before Ash officially made his exit from the anime like all his Pokémon except Pikachu fully evolved, him getting a Psychic and Fairy type Pokemon to complete his collection of Pokémon of different types, him getting an Eevee which should have happened during the Jhoto arc where he would have evolved it into Espeon, him catching a bird Pokémon from both the Alola region and the Galar region like Toucannon and Corviknight, Ash having another battle with Alain where he would have won and him getting more Pokémon from the Galar region especially one of the starter_Pokemon from that region? I got a soft spot for Ash's Muk, as I got into Pokémon as a franchise by watching him catch it. I love how affectionate it was, and I have to imagine that Muk as a species must give some of the best hugs ever if you can get past the smell. I also like his Unfezant, but I'm greatly saddened by her lacking track record. Not even battle-wise- Unfezant generally did pretty good... when she actually saw use! She had so much potential. Female Unfezant fly better than the males, and they gave Skyla a male Unfezant, the pieces were right there, and yet the two Unfezant never battled. They could have made her a powerhouse of Ash's team, lean into that Super Luck (assuming that's even her Ability, we don't actually know!) with her Air Cutter, maybe bring Night Slash and Sky Attack into the picture... but nope. Overshadowed by the starter trio, and outright removed from the rotation when Charizard came back. Seeing Pidove be the one to weaken Snivy for Ash to catch gave me such high hopes. Little did I know that's where she would peak.

Missing Swellow and Noctowl is such a big blunder by WM. Swellow even learned fighting type move, first user of Aerial Ace in Ash's team and it's battle in a tag team with Pikachu, where it charged itself with thunderbolt was epic. No other flying type Pokémon of Ash's has even come close to it's epicness, except Pidgeotto/Pidgeot.

In the ocean boat adventure I went fishing with my Pokémon then it attracted Kyogre then my Frogadier evolved into Greninja then took a ride on my own McQueen hoverboard craft and they even meet mermaids to calm Kyogre about some humans are harmless

I knew that the top 3 would be Pikachu, Charizard and Greninja. Those three will always be Ash's greatest Pokémon of all time. Of course we can't disregard Lucario. If Ash had gotten Lucario earlier instead of the last part of his journey, maybe he would be able to compete with Greninja for the 3rd place, but I am glad that it actually happen. But I have to say... I got so nostalgic remembering some of those amazing Pokémon. Sceptile, Hawlucha, Lycanroc... and of course our dear Bayleef with her immense crush on Ash. It's too bad that Incineroar was not included. I always love when Ash takes his time to earn a Pokémon's trust before capturing it and Incineroar's past as a Litten was so heartbreaking... Ash helped him through its grief and just that is enough to get him a spot on the list, IMHO.

Pikachu is definitely number 1 since it's been with Ash from the very beginning to the end. Also about Charizard, its definitely a top because it became so powerful after all the trials. While Charizard wasn't obeying Ash, I'm surprised Ash didn't consider letting it go because a Pokemon that doesn't listen to its trainer and does what it wants is sometimes mostly not worth it. Ash could've said "Charizard just won't listen to a thing I say and I'm at my wits end. I'm starting to think I should just let him go". And Ash has said one time maybe more "Charizard will you please listen to me for a change?" What do you all think?

Torterra got done dirty in terms of his win/lose ratio, since pretty much his only wins were as a Turtwig. Maybe because they needed to provide Chimchar the most development, but it still hurts. It’s a similar problem I have with Noivern (even if it is the youngest Kalos member) because, as much as I love Greninja, his arc really put a dent in Noivern’s prowess with technically one one win in my eyes against Sawyers Doublade (I don’t count Zapdos since, was it really a defeat, especially when Team Rocket intervened?)

Gengar was not the first Ghost type Ash had. During the first season (Kanto/Indigo league), Ash was able to capture Haunter and used it to beat Sabrina to get the Marsh badge. but after getting it, he left Haunter with Sabrina. Gengar would be the second.

Charizard is without a doubt Ash's second best Pokémon friend. After Pikachu (and maybe Greninja, dependinging on one's opinion), Ash's relationship with Charizard is the one that went through a lot of development. Sure, Charmander was adorable and immensily loyal. But his abandonment issues came to surface when he evolved into Charmeleon and started to act like his previous trainer. It took a lot (serious, A LOT) of time and a great act of selflessness for Ash to earn Charizard's trust. And even after Ash earned Charizard's trust, their relationship only kept on being tested and growing. The simple fact Charizard even returned during the Unova series says everything. Not just that, but one has to consider that Fried's two best friends are also a Charizard and a Pikachu...

Besides Pikachu, Chizard and Sceptile, I think all of my favorite pokemons Ash owned came from the Gen 4 series. To me, I still Diamond and Pearl was the best of the gens. I love Ash's black outfit, his dynamic with Dawn was the greatest (imo Dawn was the best of all the female companions), the growth he had with Chimchar to Infernape was good, his rivalry with Paul was unique and everything was just good. The only downside I had with the gen 4 series was how Ash was screwed out of being Sinnoh champ by a pokemon legendary spammer cuz the writers really said some "not your time yet, young warrior". Like c'mon...
