I agree completely. The notion that only gay people should play gay people is ridiculous. The same applies with disabled or trans roles or anything else. It's an illiberal idea promulgated by the wokerati who can't stand to see anyone disagreeing with their authoritarian decrees. This nonsense extends from two things: 1) the crazy postmodern distortion that 'lived experience' is the pinnacle of all truths. 2) roles of 'marginalised' or 'oppressed' people MUST only ever be performed by similarly 'marginalised' or 'oppressed' actors; anything else amounts to the most shameful, violent and unforgivable oppression and exploitation of those with 'marginalised identities' by those of 'privilege'. Which, of course, is a load of absolute bollocks. I would encourage anyone who doubts this to watch Daniel Day-Lewis's bravura performance in 'My Left Foot'. That film, for which Day-Lewis won the 1990 Best Actor Oscar, could not be made today. It's a sad and utterly nonsensical state of affairs.

That being said, Cordens role was atrocious as it was obviously a stereotype, whereas Pacinos role actually plays a very interesting character with depth and doesn't play up the gay thing once
