Hitting a ball off a tee as a pitch is something we used to do as kids in grade school until we got yelled at. I don't know that we ever got any good hits, but it was a ton of fun

My suggestion would be to make a clear collar to go around the neck of the pitching machine. Hit a ball off the tee into the clear collar on the pitching machine and hit a home run. Would be pretty awesome.

Add a sort of funnel to the top of the pitching machine to receive a thrown baseball from 40-60.5 feet. Eric, or whomever is up to the task, throws a baseball from the batter's box towards the pitching machine, which he then has to try to nuke.
