🔥 Dominant Victory! Notre Dame Football Crushes Southern Cal 48-20 🏈
Welcome to our channel, your hub for thrilling college football action! In this video, we'll dive into the epic clash between the 21st-ranked University of Notre Dame and the 10th-ranked Southern Cal, where the Fighting Irish secured a commanding 48-20 win, leaving fans in awe.
📅 Game Highlights:
In front of a sold-out Notre Dame Stadium (77,622 spectators), the Fighting Irish unleashed their might against Southern Cal. The Irish defense stole the show, intercepting Caleb Williams, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, three times (a career high for him) and sacking him six times. Junior safety Xavier Watts played a pivotal role in the Irish defense's standout performance, grabbing two interceptions, returning a fumble for a touchdown, and forcing a fumble. Notre Dame's defense was a force to be reckoned with, forcing five turnovers that translated into 21 crucial points.
🔒 Defensive Dominance:
The Irish defense displayed remarkable resilience, holding firm in critical situations, including a crucial fourth-and-one stop by JD Bertrand. Their relentless attitude and determination proved to be a game-changer throughout the match.
🏈 Powerful Offense:
Notre Dame's balanced offense, blending 126 passing yards with 125 rushing yards, showcased its poise and took full advantage of Southern Cal's mistakes. Sam Hartman had an efficient performance, completing 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Audric Estimé shone in the running game, amassing 95 yards on 22 carries and scoring two touchdowns.
👉 How the Game Unfolded:
The game kicked off with the Irish defense making a statement. Xavier Watts intercepted a pass on the fourth play, setting up the offense perfectly. Gi'Bran Payne scored the game's opening touchdown, fueled by Watts' big interception.
The Trojans managed to put some points on the board with a field goal, but Notre Dame's defense held strong in the red zone. Chris Tyree and Jordan Faison contributed key plays that extended the Irish lead.
As the game progressed, Xavier Watts came up big once again with another interception, which resulted in another Notre Dame touchdown. The Irish offense seized this opportunity, with Estimé bulldozing his way into the end zone.
The Irish lead continued to grow, with Caleb Williams throwing his third interception, picked off by Benjamin Morrison. Hartman capitalized on this turnover, connecting with Rico Flores Jr. before Estimé added more points with his second and third touchdowns.
Southern Cal managed to score a field goal just before halftime, and the Irish headed into the break with a substantial 24-6 lead.
The Trojans mounted a comeback effort in the third quarter, narrowing the Irish lead to 11 points with a touchdown. Notre Dame needed a response, and they found it with Estimé and Chris Tyree, extending their lead once more.
The Irish defense continued to shine, with back-to-back sacks that stifled the Trojans' efforts. Notre Dame's special teams also stepped up with a remarkable kick return touchdown by Jadarian Price, demonstrating their agility and execution.
As the game neared its conclusion, the Irish defense secured another victory, ending the game with a scoop-and-score touchdown, sealing their dominant 48-20 win.

The last time Notre Dame beat a top 10 team by that many points was 28 years ago this week, when another 6-0 USC team visited another 5-2 Notre Dame team and lost by another 28 point score. ND won 38-10. I remember that game well (back when they played during the day).

NBC's broadcast was absolutely terrible during this. The sound from the stadium was uneven and muted, Collingsworth and Garrett sounded like they were either bored or asleep for half the game, tons of mistakes on the actual board, like on Watts' scoop and score in the 4th quarter, it indicated that USC scored, not ND. Absolute crap production that didn't match the absolute mastery we saw on the field. An amazingly fun game to watch as an ND fan, but the TV production gets a D- in my opinion.

@@bigneiltoo the key is we have to finish strong and win a NY6 game. We haven't won a NY6 game in the 21st century. There is prestige in winning these games. When ND went up 24-6 at halftime against USC, I briefly flashed to one time this happened, in the 1970s. USC went on to win 55-24, as they scored 7 second half TDs and ND's offense did nothing the second half. I was glad that history wasn't repeated here. However, that game in the 1970s was at the Coliseum, instead of at home in South Bend.

Michigan fan here giving Irish some love... Especially Coach Freeman. He had his team ready. Outstanding effort. USC is atrocious on defense. That will not win them anything meaningful. Williams did himself no favors by chucking the rock up for grabs under blitz pressure. #1 NFL pick shouldn't make those poor decisions yet he did it repeatedly. Well done ND.. credit for a tough schedule as well.

Did anyone else follow the game on ESPN? They messed it up royally. 1) I couldn't watch on XFinity like I normally do. 2) None of their replays worked. 3) They had only 2 replays - both of interceptions - as of the 4th quarter. 4) They COMPLETELY OMITTED the 99 yard Notre Dame kick return - you simply saw the score go up. They NEVER CORRECTED it over like 30 minutes. 5) At one point it said 97 yard field goal. 6) When USC had a long return they simply omitted that also and I was wondering how USC was on the ND 17. Someone at ESPN should go to jail. This is 20+ year old technology.

I was watching on NBC, but they also messed up. On ND’s scoop n score, the NBC people showed a USC scoop and score animation which you can see at 16:18 and showed USC gaining points on the scoreboard. They then completely shut off the scoreboard for a good minute because apparently they can’t figure out how to edit the scoreboard, and then finally showed the scoreboard with the right scores.

@@TPB-di6qn I suspect they have a system whereby in order to correct a mistake, someone's metric is impacted. And we have "perfect" and diverse trans women in charge there, so when they make a mistake they have to have a little meeting with Captain Latisha.

Well, my Trojans _totally deserved_ this L last night. The hype this team has been getting up until the past couple of weeks was obviously misguided and _only_ predicated on their name and history. This is the sort of thing that I usually slam Notre Dame fans for believing. And as the season began, I believed it. But once USC got into their conference games and I watched the two rock fights they had with both Arizona teams, I knew they were in big trouble. I just figured that the Colorado game was them just cashing it in at halftime. Boy, was _I_ wrong! First off, USC's defense is white-hot _asszzz._ Although they _did_ show signs of improvement in last night's game, it was actually USC's offense that made Notre Dame's offense look better than it is. However, Notre Dame's defense _is_ solid. They're obviously not world-beaters, but they're solid enough and much better than USC's defense. So begrudging congratulations to the Domers; you bested a pretty subpar team last night. As for Lincoln Riley, that guy _has_ to go. He kept running the same crappy plays over and over in the first half that were routinely thwarted by Notre Dame's defense. USC's porous offensive line couldn't stop those guys, so Riley decides to keep doing the same thing? Williams ran for his life most of the night! So get the guy out of the pocket already! I'm a guy on a couch, and I could figure _that out!_ Help your o-line and quarterback for Touchdown Jesus's sake! So at halftime, I just figured Riley and the coaching staff would adjust, but what did they do just after they got the ball for the second half? Yeah, that's right, they ran the _same stupid garbage_ they did in the first half?! When your offense regularly puts the other team at _your_ one-yard line, that's no way to win a game. I now expect the Trojans to lose to UCLA, Washington, and Oregon, and it won't probably be close. They _might_ beat Cal, but only if that entire Bears team eats LSD the morning of that game. Hey, it's Berkeley... that _could_ just happen! 😝

Maybe handle the defending PAC12 conference champion before you come talking about actual championships. Your 11-3 record last year was soft af. Didnt even play Oregon or Washington. Your record against Oregon in the last 28 years has been 7-12, and more recently has been 1-4 in the last 11 years. Talking about championships, and yet you can even handle the second or third best team in your conference. The actual funny part is you seem like the type of guy who, if USC won, would come around these boards and celebrate the win. What a loser. Hey, the Irish are 9-3 in the last 13 years against USC. Suck on that.
