Thanks for the compliments. We filmed some experiments over the summer that used this system for recovery and thought it would be a good idea to show people the concept because it might have confused people to see the payload separating in new videos. It could even be interpreted as a malfunction if we didn't publish this first.

Hello USWaterRockets. I really like the fact that the electronics and release system are both saved if the parachute fails. A unique feature that I might just have to try! After all, most rebuilding is of the electronics and the release system when the rocket crashes. Jamie B.

Thanks, Jamie! Usually, you can inflate the rocket and pop out any damages. But the electronics usually won't work after getting crushed by the rocket. Even when we crash into the water, the crushing force of the rocket on top of the electronics will break things. In this design, the electronics are essentially in free-fall inside a light protective shell and rarely get damaged in a crash.

Another great video! We really like the animations. This is a very useful improvement to your current radial deploy system. Your team did a great job in making things easier and more reliable. :) We wish you a happy new year and we are looking forward to see new exciting projects on your channel in 2015. Thanks, guys! We're glad you like the animations. It's mostly enjoyable making them, except for making the strings and rubber band move in a realistic way. That has to be done mostly by hand, and is tricky to get right. We've got a good number of projects under way and there will be more videos coming. Let us know what you think. We're going to try and do some more artistic editing, and would like your feedback too. Have a great and productive new year!

USWaterRockets You're welcome. Which program do you use for the animations? As you know from our forum contribution we are planning some exciting projects too. :) Cheers

RaketfuedRockets We use flash and after effects to do the animations. We saw your "preview" message on www.WaterRocketForum.com and it looks really exciting. We plan to post some additional info about 2015 there soon.

Where can you get the bottles to make these rockets in Canada? I have looked in the local grocery store and they all seem to be the wrong shape? Not round. Can you purchase these bottles new from a supplier? Thanks for your help. Willy

+Bill Blackburn I do not know where you can get these bottles in other countries. In the USA we have many regional supermarket brands which only have stores in small geographic regions. These stores usually sell food made and packaged locally, typically contracting with larger national food companies to manufacture and package cheaper versions of their products, which they put in packages with the branding of the store. So, I go to a local store called "Hannaford Supermarket" and buy Tonic Water or Cola and it comes in a generic bottle that was filled and shipped from a Pepsi bottler not far from here. The Pepsi bottler has similar contracts with numerous retailers to bottle and label their soft drinks as well. However, the Pepsi bottler cannot use the same bottles they use for Pepsi, since these bottles have distinctive shapes and designs that distinguish the Pepsi products from competitors, and to further distinguish themselves, they almost always use the most plain and generic looking bottles when filling product under contract for another business. So, to answer your question, I could name off 4 or 5 business where I can buy different soft drinks and they all come in bottles like these that are within walking distance of here, but I can guarantee that you will have never heard of these businesses and will probably never enter one of their stores in your lifetime. My advice to you would be to walk the isles of your local stores, or go to a place that sells beverages, and look closely at all the bottles and see if there is something similar to this where you live. From what I have been able to see, the type and shape of bottles varies very much from region to region. For example, I have seen 3 liter bottles in my travels that are 50% taller, but the same diameter and have the same 22mm mouth as 2 liter bottles. However, n the same local store I get my cola, the 3 liter bottles are close to the height of 2 liter bottles but they are larger in diameter. I would LOVE to be able to get the tall skinny 3 liter bottles, but they just do not sell them locally.I hope you can find something suitable. Good luck!

Look for a tutorial on a device called a "tomy timer". You can use it with this design and many others and does not use electronics.
