Did you ever go back? I want to check this place out and there is little to no information about those mines and I would love to learn more!

@@justusdavis9257 I've been extremely busy at my current airline and haven't had the time, nor the permission, to go back. The Relief Mine Co owns the road up to the Spanish mine and they don't let anyone hear it if they have a say.

Dang. What got me interested was an old photo showing the location of the dream mine and also pointed out two other spots called the hieroglyphic tunnel and the ancient tunnel and it has brought me down a rabbit hole that eventually led me to this video😂

Some of my family members help manage the koyle dream mine and when they say no trespassing they mean it. But so long as you keep inside water canyon and dont go the next one north youll be fine. Just dont be dumb and leave the sealed mines on the relief mine property alone, the rest of those mountains are forest service land so explore to your hearts content.

@@minecraftmaster6401 I avoid relief mine property like the plague. I grew up by the mine and saw someone getting trespassed like every week.
@minecraftmaster64014 ай бұрын
Idk if ya saw it but theres a gate down the opposite way you went that signals the end of the road owned by the relief mine. all the rest of the road at least is owned by the cell tower. Just be aware the road has just been getting worse since this video. Plus you'll probably get in trouble if you go past the gate in the mine. I'm not entirely sure whether the spanish mine is owned by the relief mine id have to ask my dad but they did put those up for a reason. The one grated off along the road has a shaft with no protection going down a few thousand feet.

@@minecraftmaster6401 we ended up going down relief mine road to get out because it got dark, and I didn't want to take the trail down and asked them if we could leave that was and they were actually pretty nice about it. I didn't see another gate though.
@minecraftmaster64014 ай бұрын
Yeah they dont wanna encourage people to go up that back way but id rather let someone out the relief gate then send them back down that scary as hell back way. Ive been tempted to go fix it a bit myself. The top gate is usually left open just because of that reason. Ive been up there hunting quite a bit but ive yet to actually go down into the spanish mine like that, i kinda wanna go rent a fourwheeler and go check it out now though. Or maybe ill make a day of it and h8ke from the bottom. Theres a few other mines up there not many people know about. But you've gotaa hike your butt off to get to most of them.

Theres another hard rock mine thats been explored a bunch down chiulos canyon road near eureka thats a fun exploration. The only shaft in it has been collapsed but te tunnel goes back a solid quarter of a mile.

The petroglyph mine was sealed because they found a small Indian child wrapped in a burlap type material burried in it. It was a single idiot who defaced the petroglyphs with a backhoe bucket, not the mine people. If I remember correctly he was charged with the crime 20+yrs ago, and fined like $300. but ya what a idiot for defacing the petroglyphs. You missed 2 mines on that road up to the Spanish mine. I never went into the Spanish mine, always looked like it was going to collapse at any second. Pretty cool.
@mountainmikeoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
We actually stopped at every mine on the way up but didn't feel the other two were worth filming since they were completely barred over. Do you have a link to an article about the child? I can't say I've heard that story before. All of the markings on the rock face that I saw were tool marks consistent with a pneumatic or hydraulic stoper.
@russrobert90753 жыл бұрын
@@mountainmikeoutdoors there's 2 more mines that are not barred off. No article on the Indian child, it was in the 1900's heard it from old timers who spent alot of time there. There was a thing in the paper 25+ years ago about the guy who defaced the petroglyphs with a back hoe, the bucket had teeth on it, that's why it looks like it was drilled.
@russrobert90753 жыл бұрын
There's 5 mines total, 3 on the water canyon side towards woodland hills they're full of water, and 2 more on the mtn side to the Spanish mine. There's a way into the barred off one at the bend that you stopped at on the way down, and one underneath it up the road off the RH side. Goes in 200'
