You guys are half right. He was like hiking or something in the mountains and at one point a big wind came by and knocked his hat into the lake or ocean or whatever so he was getting his clothes off until he decided that it was gone. Then one big wind came in the opposite direction and it was now at shore. And Kootra from then on just wore it ever since. I'm probably not spot on but I'm around that General area. He described it as "FATE MAAAN!!"
