fwiw zip ties are actually used for professional cable management
@wheetcracker
@wheetcracker 5 жыл бұрын
@Destro I work in power electronics. We build large power converters and use zip ties almost exclusively for cable management. This is entirely because our equipment is often subjected to environments with a lot of shaking and vibration. Wires have to be really secure so that they can't vibrate, wear through their insulation, and short out. It's especially important given that we're talking voltages up to 1000vdc. Unsecured wires can literally cause fires lol. My point was that zip ties are very much a professional tool. They're just not optimal for applications like ethernet runs where the wires are stationary, the voltages are low, and they need to be easily disassembled.

Steve’s most devious plan yet, 1. Send out free Mod mats to every KZbinr who is competition. 2. Have them included in as many videos as possible to advertise his channel. 3. When KZbinrs catch on to the fact they have been doing free advertising, strike them down with copyright strikes for using his copyrighted logo for months in the majority of video. 4. Watch the Subscriptions flood in as the only Tech Tuber left on KZbin while stroking Snowflake in an oversized gaming chair laughing with a tone of pure evil. @@shaun4bigblocksllc, I would say that is a big no, though I understand your point. Proper tools allow for far more consistency and a better finish to your work, but it doesn't magically make it easy for just anyone to do a job. Skills are required in any case. I can carve something out of wood with a butter knife, the finish will be poor and it will be very difficult and time intensive... when I could have just used proper sharp/shaped carving tools. The real skill would be the carving, not making things needlessly difficult.

Well, it's probing with the correct tools, with something thats made for it, not just sticking some metal in there and accidentally smacking a capacitor. He needed to for powering the pump, didn't know he would at the beginning, but once he did he used the right tools. :|

@JimBob1937
@JimBob1937 4 жыл бұрын
@@Savinmoneyforparts, eh, even cheap meters can read mains voltage safely... if you probe correctly. He apparently had it in current mode, which is bad since current probing tries to be as close to a short as possible to not affect the measurement, but apparently it had overcurrent protection. The issue I have is that the power supply is designed for a specific load, and I don't think they measured the watts pulled by the fan and pump to make sure the power supply can handle it, let's hope the engineers put in a good margin for the parts.
@Savinmoneyforparts

3 Steps to avoid having to lower spindle speed: 1. Reduce depth of cut, using proper feeds 2. Reduce the tool diameter, use the depth of cut you wanted. 3. Use stronger tool on the first pass, then use a second pass with the tool form you wanted. If that all fails: 4. Outsource it? 5. Redesign it? 6. Make this specific video.

You guys should really consider pressure testing these in-house made water loops for future builds.. rather than "wait and see" to see if any leaks develop over time, just get an automotive hose pressure tester or any hand pump really, fill your loop or component with fluid, and give it a couple psi and see if any water seeps out from any of the fittings or o-rings. if it can stand up to not leaking while under pressure, then you know it will have zero issues while under less pressure during normal operation.

Even tho I agree to some point a pressured system can have no leaks and when there's only flow and low pressure it can leak. Most rubber seals need pressure to seal be it by the mounting or the fluid. A o'ring for example can seal at pressure and if the mounting is not thigh enough it will let fluid trough at lesser pressure.

@emu071981
@emu071981 5 жыл бұрын
A better idea would be something like the Dr Drop pressure tester where you don't even put water in. You just assemble your loop, attach the pressure gauge and use the pump to put in some pressure. Leave it for a bit and if the pressure remains stable then your loop is good to go. You may need to google to find the kit in stock though and to get a better price (I have seen the kit costing anywhere from $25AUD to $200+). I did look at making my own for testing my own loops but either I overengineered my tester or the maker of the prebuilt kit is getting a volume discount for parts as my kit was costing about double to triple the cost of the prebuilt. :\ www.singularitycomputers.com/shop/tools-2/dr-drop-pressure-tester-w-air-pump/

You could have cut the top and added a 140mm fan (or two) on top and left the internal heatsinks as they were. Not 27C from water blocks but should be quieter than 40mm fans for same airflow. I converted 2x 1U PSU of a 3U NAS to use 120mm fan (or 140mm with a reducer) with a shroud to cover the rears (less airflow restriction now those 39mm fans have been removed). I also added a cardboard channel to direct airflow from 1.5 of the front intake fans to pass through the CPU heatsink and out the back grill.
