Nice job on breaking down the basics. I have a question about pumps. In the future I'd like to buy my own multistage system and would like to have the option of a separate pump when needed. Is the pump added between the spigot and water inlet of the machine OR between the system outlet and pole? I feel like I know the answer (between the water spigot and machine inlet) but I don't want to assume and make a mistake somehow.

My tds is 349 to 400 in some areas I use a simple single DI 3/4 tank. The resin last me about 6 months I used it today on a home with wellwater with a tds of 380 I cleaned 74 windows spotless and my tank still reads 000. So Buy a cheap di first because 70% of your jobs you can't or choose not to use the system anyhow. Invest $280 not $1500 regardless of your TDS. Even my little portable DI system is a pain in the butt to setup. Go single DI then upgrade to di.

How often and at what price do you have to replace stuff on your water fed system? I use Triple Crown Phaser One..It doesn’t use resin, used it for 2.5 years and it still runs below 10tds ... I feel that in maybe another year I may need to buy a new one..it cost $1000 for the system

I replace my carbon every 4-8 weeks which is around $10, replace resin 2-3 times a year which is around $65 each time, and then the RO is replaced every 2-4 years depending on frequency of use, RO will run $400. For example, when you have a new job and you don't know the value of tds in the water of that place, do you have to measure it to know if you will need a DI or a RO system? Love your videos, big fan. Hydrophobic = glass is scared of water = water becomes droplets of water so it makes rinsing glass difficult but still possible. Only able to rinse whatever spot youre on. Hydrophilic = glass likes water. As Steveo said water cascades beautifully and easily rinses anything below the hose. You can't reall tell by simply looking at a window unfortunately

Great video, as usual! I'm in Houston, and I find often times that the algae and mildew growth is significant....windows, frames, screens, walls, etc. I do complete exterior cleaning and we soft wash the walls/building etc. No matter how much you rinse, the sodium hypochlorite leaves a residue. The addition of my Tucker 40/60 system (which I actually mounted on the trailer, lol) and all the poles and attachments have allowed me to clean the glass and frames like never before and it is now a separate service for my business. I would add a tip that the use of a supply booster pump makes the RO system much more efficient. I get 90-95% efficiency when I use pressure above 80-90psi and more flow. This puts 200-300 TDS in cleaned to 10-20 coming into resin. Without booster pump, we only get about 25-30 out and into resin. On a large commercial job this can make a big difference when cleaning hydrophobic glass. To your point about chemicals.... I have found, on first time cleans, or the really, really dirty stuff, it can be faster or perhaps a bit more easy, to have a guy with a mop and/or bronze wool with some soap with a bit of additional chemical as needed to scrub ahead of WFP cleaning (with boars hair only). Just some of my experience. Finally - don't forget the carbon filter! The RO membrane is very sensitive to chlorine, and maybe not everywhere, but in many places the chlorine content is high in municipal water and it should be filtered out prior to using RO. Most RO/DI systems have it built in, but plan to change it every time you change the resin to be safe.

I live in Chicago and most residential customers clean once a year a few twice a year so the windows tend to be very dirty come spring. With that in mind I started out using the hybrid and it just was not enough so boar's hair brush is the only way to go for me. Water pressure in a lot of the Chicago residents is real low to the point of the water dripping down the brush so of course a pump is needed which will set you back $60 to $90 and I always have two on my truck in case one goes down. One product that I really like using on real dirty windows is the Tucker Alpha Scrubber which comes with the swivel handle. And I purchased another swivel for my other brushes because it just works really well in those hard to reach corner windows on dormers or if trees and high bushes are in my way. By the way thanks for the video Steve0

@SteveOthewindowcleaner
@SteveOthewindowcleaner Жыл бұрын
Nah, the glass needs agitation from the brush to loosen the dirt so the water can rinse it away

Will just the WFP and water clean a window that has been made foggy by SH or a surfactant that's already been dried on just by scrubbing?

Yes it will, many softwashers use an RODI system to clean the windows after a soft wash, great add on. This is a perfect kit for 2-3 story commercial and 95% of homes windowcleaner.com/alex-s-revolution-kit?pt=MY

Your ultimate on wcr still what you would recommend? To comfortably clean windows at 50 ft how long of a pole do I really need. I’m assuming I want to be able to be off the wall a little ways. I’d normally just buy poles and see what happens but this water fed stuff is expensive.

I would purchase the 60' destroyer for working at 50' very rigid and easy to control at that height windowcleaner.com/xero-destroyer-water-fed-pole?pt=MY Its expensive but will be your best pole at that height

Hi Steve. Really nice videos. What would you suggest for a beginner that just want to start with WFP? I was thinking of the Unger hydropower to start with. Just to get the hang of it and doing some small jobs?

Is washing windows really that complicated? Most of the guys I've talked to act like they're performing open heart surgery or something. Are they just being defensive because window cleaning is not really a recognized trade as compared to builder/electrician/plumber etc?
@klueless4205

It's as complicated as you choose to make it. I've been cleaning windows for a few years now and I've got guys that prefer to keep it simple with hand washing and rags, and I've worked for guys that have this stuff down to a SCIENCE. pH levels, exact measurements on solutions, a squeegee for every window size imaginable and the most top-tier equipment you could ask for. I think it's really up to preference, experience and how good you are naturally at this stuff. A guy with a squeegee and a rag that's real good at his job could knock out the same amount of windows as a guy with $5000 worth of equipment that's not so good at his job. Moral of the story is: It's only complicated if you want it to be complicated. Like building computers, some people make their money off building crazy custom liquid cooled monsters while some people make their money off flipping used parts building budget systems. It's all preference.

@@klueless4205wrong. As with anything you need the right tools for the job. You want Home Depot tools then you are gonna get Home Depot results . Doesn’t need to be too complicated just know you get what you put in
