EDIT: I really didnt think this needed to be said but many of you are concerned Billi doesn’t have access to water. She has 2 bowls available at all times. “Water food” is hot water over her kibble, a special soup treat she loves.

Honestly, this could be an incredible boon for people with elderly cats. At a certain age cats tend to become very picky eaters and it can be very disheartening to bring in food only to see them reject it without knowing what it is they actually want. It would be so much easier if they could just signal which brand/flavour/consistence they want.

@@TieDyeVikki hm I've been following for around a year and Billi asking owner what she was drinking. Owner thought about it for a long time and finally explained to Billi that it was "catnip water". So owner mentioned it first and Billi started using it. Billi did try to see what catnip + water actually is so her owner actually used real water and catnip to make a catnip drink to Billi but she never asked for it again. Wasn't really to Billi's liking

@@naylisyazwina6836 Hi, I didn't see your comment before. You are absolutely correctl! And I knew all of that too, so I don't know what I was thinking when I posted! I do get mixed up sometimes. I may have been remembering something from long before coffee ever became catnip water... at the old apartment there were one or two times that Billi asked for catnip and water at the same time... some speculated she was anticipating the drymouth the catnip would bring, and others thought she wanted catnip tea. That was the first occasion that Kendra explained how she had once given her catnip tea and she didn't care for it. Anyway, I may have been remembering those presses when I was thinking she named coffee. I had probably been indulging in too much, um, catnip at the time..... ;)

Did Billi get confused? If I'm not wrong, "before" usually is used to indicate something that happened in the past -- like, "before morning, now afternoon". When she was asked, "what Billi want before food hmm?" to figure out what she wanted in the near future,, maybe she couldn't process it because she didn't understand what it meant. Maybe that's why she hesitated over pets, because she had received pets a little while earlier.

If my cat had buttons like that she would press food all the time. Lol. She’s getting better. She is a rescue. She was three or four years old and very food insecure. She’s improved a lot since then. Doesn’t wolf down her food usually. Just laps up the gravy snd chews on her meaty bits slowly. Every night we have our treat routine.

"Water Food" is what I do for kittens that are being weaned. I add a little water to the kibble. It's easier to transition them from nursing to regular food. I've noticed that some of my older cats still like it. I guess it's like cereal to them !

This reminds me of when my brother, as a teenager, used to go between the pantry, fridge, and freezer, loudly announcing, "Moooooooom. We have no foooooooooood." (We did. He was just impatient for dinner.) I wonder what's going through her little walnut brain while she's thinking about what button to press. Is she trying to remember where the buttons are? Is she trying to figure out what she wants the most? Is she trying to figure out what Mom wants her to want the most? Has she been distracted because noise outside bird? Maybe she's thinking about what it means to be capable of self-reflection and expression of that self's preferences, and how so many people seem to waste the gift of speech. Or maybe she's contemplating how to prove the fifth postulate of Euclidean geometry, and we'll never know because she can't tell us. Which means we cannot tell Billi that it's impossible to prove the fifth postulate, because the universe is non-Euclidean, and that led to the creation of a new branch of geometry that Einstein would use to describe relativity, thus propelling the human race into a new era of scientific understanding and discovery. _You didn't give her that button._ You _monster._
