Water resistivity survey method has been widely used to determine the thickness and resistivity of layered media for the purpose of assessing groundwater potential and siting boreholes in fractured unconfined aquifers. Traditionally, this has been done using one-dimensional (1D) vertical electrical sounding (VES) surveys.
It is used to detect groundwater wells that contain fresh water or saline water which is not suitable for agriculture use. before this technology it was not possible to know whether there is fresh water or saline water where you are willing to bore for water
