Thanks for explaining as I am needing to do this process. I thought the brine tank was where the salt is, and there a no beads at the bottom of the black tube, as they are in the sealed up cylindrical tank. I think that's where you would want the iron out is in that black tube and not so much mixed with the salt that way it would be sucked up into the tank with the beads.

@greggriffin287 Жыл бұрын
You are to pour the iron out into the "brine well" (the cylindrical tube he poured it into), but you are correct that there are no beads in there and that the beads are in the "resin tank". He did it correctly, but misspoke.

You can’t open the bead tank. It’s sealed This is just a modern tank in bucket system you see these days. You don’t want air getting in your beads. What I want to know is does this really work BecAyse normally this stuff needs to soak for a while.

@@woodywoodlstein9519 I can open both of my bead tanks for the two softeners I have. I didn't realize they sealed some of them as all the ones I've seen can been opened (my softeners have bead tanks separate from the unit, unlike the one in this video where it's the tank in bucket system). I replaced the resin beads after 10 years of heavy use in one of my tanks. There are companies that sell resin bead kits so that you don't have to replace the entire tank. It takes a couple of hours, but well worth saving a few hundred dollars, imo. Perhaps you already knew all of this and were simply referring to the system used in this video!

This stuff is very harsh and it forms a cloud very easily. I'd bump that recommendation up to a N95 mask. Go breath some in and report back.

@@JetFire9 NO. bad info. You should be able to use immediately. I would as he suggested run the cold water from all faucets for a few minutes. That way your fresh cycling water. Then you can use hot water drink swim bathe whatever.

Pardon my ignorance on this matter, but I have looked through the manual over and over with these Kenmore 350 series from the factory are these units designed to regen on their own after a set amount of gallons or time?

If so - how does a person go about changing this setting?
@MiamiCOIndiana
@MiamiCOIndiana Жыл бұрын
You change the. Hardness level. That information on how to set hardness is in the Manuel. The unit is automatically set then to run as needed.
@klforrest573
@klforrest573 Жыл бұрын
@@MiamiCOIndiana thank you - I have reset the harness a couple times due to testing - as well as the time when the unit regens - so what you’re saying is the unit will regen itself after counting so many gallons that have passed or amount of time past? All I can do is set the time that it regions.
@klforrest573
@klforrest573 Жыл бұрын
All I have found over the last year is I can set the salt level. I can set the hardness. And I can set the time that the unit regenerates. According to what you’re saying, everything else is done automatically according to the water hardness setting?

No waiting period really the softener if working correctly will keep the fresh supply of water separate, I just flush everything out of each faucet as purely a precautionary measure.

Following the directions it says to add to brine tank. So I would say this is what you should do to avoid any issues.

Using your water while running a recharge cycle shouldn't matter. While recharging a bypass valve opens to send untreated water to the faucets. If it were not so, you'd get really salty water at the faucets if you got yourself a drink while the softener was recharging. Also, that wimpy surgical mask might have made you feel safer, but it didn't stop anything from getting into your lungs. Good product and helpful video otherwise.

@gyoungberg Good note on water for the recharge cycle. Surgical masks are rated for 2.5 mircrons or larger. Iron Out is rated at 5 microns. The instructions on the packaging explicitly state to wear PPE for hands, eyes, and mouth before and during use to avoid medical emergencies. Specifically, as it "may cause irritation to the respiratory system. Causes serious eye damage. Burning pain and severe corrosive skin damage."

It doesn’t matter the installer should put the correct amount setting for tank fill. As for salt I try to keep it full as possible. If you let it dissipate to below the standing water then you are not salinizing the regeneration process enough. Like not salting your French fries enough. More Salt please!
