Great video and very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to post this. I have a low producing well in a vacation cabin and this was just what I needed. I appreciate it.

Lovely Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you tried - Proutklarton Protecting Aqua Plan (do a search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for getting prepared for a mega drought minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my good mate called Gray got amazing results with it.

Thanks - It really is Jevchance. The storage system enabled me to rent out a basement apartment in that house. Before it was installed, any amount of water use had to be "scheduled"; can't do that with 2 different sets of tenants.

I have the same well problems. Your explanation is great, but I'm wrestling with the break even analysis. My well guy says I need to drill deeper to increase volume and reservoir. Set up is $750 plus $13 a foot; total should be around $5k. Before I spend $5k, I'm wondering about the storage tank option. How much did the tank cost and what else do I need to make it all work? I already have a house pump and pressure tank. Do I need a second one for the storage tank. How much space does the tank take up? Where do I get one?

Hi, does anyone know where to get the floats for inside the tank to stop/start the water flow from the well? Also how are they connected to the pumptec controller?
@YamahaC7SRG2 жыл бұрын
I know this video is old but it is still applicable to my situation and is very interesting and helpful. I'm wondering if the 2nd float in the storage tank (the lower one) is supposed to be wired to the surface pump rather than the Pumptec device. If the storage tank gets low, wouldn't you want the surface pump to shut off to save the surface pump's motor?

Can you give us an updated on how its operating after 4 years? I would also be interested in seeing your storage tank setup. We have a 25 year old, 265 foot well that is low yield and it would be $25,000 to replace in our area.

I asked this question on the wrong video. So here I am starting over on the correct video. It would be great to know which float sensors you used in your storage tank. I see others have asked the same question. Thanks for the help.

Any chance you can show or mention your filtration set up (are you filtering before or after you storage tank)? I'm setting up a 1000g in a exterior pump house and wanting to filter before the storage tank and thinking a cartridge polishing filter on the house side of the booster pump. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

I have a pumptec on my water system. A couple of times, I've noticed water coming out of the pipe that has the electrical in it. I turn the pump off. What is causing this? I thought maybe the floats are not working right and do not tell pumptec to stop the pump from running water into the tank. I don't know how the water gets into the electrical pipe. But, I guess I need new floats???? Now, which floats do I buy? Can you recommend something to me?

Do you know why the pumptec would make a humming noise?

I have a similar set up in my basement because of a low volume well. At this point everything is manual, I have to turn the power on to the well. That causes a lot of “forgot to turn the power off” which is not good. I have been researching ways to make it automatic and THIS IS IT!! One question, how do you wire in the float switches to control the Pumptec? Thanks.

This is the exact system I’m hooking up to my cabin right now in the cascade mountains. My well only produces 1/4 gallon a minute! However, I have a 1500 gallon storage tank which is supplemented with rainwater. Just like you, I’ll have a pressure tank that is filled by water drawn from the cistern with a separate pump, and a pumptech seems like a great addition. Do you have any advice? Such as, would you recommend a very large pressure tank (over 100 gallon) or anything else? Very helpful video for me personally. Thank you!

Do you ever wish you did more than 500 gallons? I'm leaning more to a 2,500 gallon tank outside of the house. However, that's pretty large. I might fall somewhere in the middle so that I can make a pump house and have the tank, pump, pump saver, well casing, all inside of the pump house. I'm thinking the pressure tank and filtration can be in the house. I have about 150 feet of distance between the home and the well. Maybe more, haven't measured it yet. Pretty sure I need a booster pump too. Thanks for the post

No Earl , I never found that the tank wasn't big enough . Having said that , we have had no more than 5 people living in the house. And eveyone is good about not being "water hogs " !

i too live in ontario. try your local farm supply store (TSC Store) for the tank. i bought my 250 gal there. in stock. i don't know what floats he's using. that's what im trying to source now.

The only way it senses the power draw difference when the punp sucks air and revs up there used to be a control called a Warwick liqued level control a probe at the bottom of the well senses when the water level gets to low and shuts off the pump a 2nd sensor higher up at the level the well is at when recovered turns it back on and a restrictor to just below the wells production limits the flow that way you'll get all the water that the well produces I put in 8000 gallon storage cisterns to provide water to housing communities 1 gallon a minute was considered adequate for for a 7 home community and with a tank that size if they did run low they could have a water hauler bring in a tank of water I would recommend a tank of that size for any home that does not have a firehydrant nearby I had one customer that looking at the price difference between a small 200 gallon tank in the basement and my 8000 gallon tank was thinking of saving money I pointed out that insurance companies gave a lower rate for having a big tank in case of a fire his reply was if it catches fire let it burn the insurance company would pay to replace it all I pointed to a 2nd floor window and ask if his kids were trapped up there would he still say let it burn he saw my point a multy stage submersible pump pumping 20 gallons a minute or more can go a long way in fighting a fire and since some volunteer fire departments ownly have pumps and hoses it can make a difference of being able to repair or starting over a case in point a house caught fire at the far side of a three car attached garage fire department was immediately called the first volunteer fireman with a pickup got to the station and he and the ones already there loaded the pump and hoses and headed for the fire the last fireman to the station loaded up the rest in his vehicle when they got to the fire it was still just the end wall but no water they were set up for their small town that had hydrants so a call was made for a water tanker the officer who called said he'd meet the driver at the highway and give him an escort out the driver beat the cop to the fire but with the extra 3/4 of an hour he Took to get there the house was fully ingulfed if they'd had even 2000 gallons of asesable water they could have put it out with only damage to the garage and with a pump on the tank the owner could have put it out himself
