@@Burndown The connections all look very good, well done, along with many issues which You mentioned You considered with the placement as moving from these Air Intercooler water lines from placing along the inside of the upper body fender, then firewall, through into the passenger area as done. A. You stated Your concern about the possibility with some leak, damage to, with these water lines, thus concerned the water will affect the left front tire, especially if occurred at speed on the track, would, could lead to the loss of traction, especially imbalanced, perhaps also the left rear tire and the vehicle could, would veer significantly from a straight path of travel down the track, thus very likely a crash = danger 1. since these water lines, hoses are single, whole pieces, with cold water inside them, no connections along these tubes, there is not a reasonable possibility with a hole, leak, damage along the lines, tubes - certainly not suddenly 2. also there is not any significant water pressure within these tube lines either 3. If You had concerns, with any possible tiny leak affecting, simple tubular, or semicircular metal can be placed under these tubes along the upper fender area to collect and direct any possible water, condensation, etc. B. actually, with these flexible tubes, lines passing over the engine area, as done,, situated, performed, achieved, they will be subjected ot the heat of the engine during all normal operating conditions, and more extreme heat during racing conditions, from heat rising due to combustion inside the engine, exits through the exhaust ports, manifold thus as heat rises from all of this, affects them, from the outside, results in less flexible, stiffer, damage from the outside of these tubes, though when the intercooler pump is activated, the water inside will be cold, and when not activated certainly th tubes, inside, air, water will become hot. 1. As You know with flexible vacuum, fuel lines, hoses, tubes in around the engine, inside the engine compartment, they become stiff, inflexible, damaged, brittle, crack, break, have leaks. 2. -> thus the fuel lines You have above the engine the same area as these water lines are metal, solid, with specific types of fitting, so there will not be fuel leaks above the engine which would inflame, thus result in a fire, perhaps a very serious fire also traveling to the fuel tank. 3. Also, the water inside these lines, no matter the material composition, will also become warm to hot from the rising heat of the engine during operation and post -> thus the desired cold water inlet side will certainly be not as cold as desired thus less than desired, needed for the water to air intercooler to properly cool air for the boost, air intake, thus reduced power levels. C. Also, though the flexible tube section into the air intake fits well and may look good,, there are issues which will result 1, As with any flexible tube, within heat, ear the engine, as mentioned, the tube is affected by the heat, thus over time becomes damaged, cracks, splits, breaks, has leaks, more so under pressure as with the turbocharger boost 2. -> thus undesirable, impractical material for use within this use 3. hence why You will see, that basically everyone uses metal tubing within the boost lines for both the hot and cold side piping. 4. also the areas which the flexible tube clamp onto the metal tubes are certainly vulnerable, susceptible to leakage, certainly with, under pressure during boost - thus why metal tube connections are either welded or connected via the use with the special clamps as V-bands or similar 5. as with and within flexible hose, tube connections to, with metal, the metal has a raised area, bead around the end of the metal tube, then the flexible tube is clamped past that raised area, bead for a most secure connection, as is common within the engine cooling system at the water pump, radiator, etc. 6. within engine cooling systems there is obviously heat which expands the flexible tubes along with pressure, which affect these metal to flexible tube connections 7. within the air lines for boost, compressed air, there is certainly much higher pressure for both cold and hot, cold higher pressure, and significantly high heat on the hot side =>thus each side requires materials, connections which are appropriate to handle, withstand the conditions => thus metal tubes with appropriate connection are used. D. The position and direction of the blow off valve [BOV] is certainly much better away from the engine and other components as You decided, installed, accomplished. YOu would also consider, check that there is s sufficient space, open area in the front, grill area for the high pressure air to pass well, and what will be affected if and when the BOV will open, allowing the high pressure air to escape, pass freely, properly without any restrictions, or such. 1. also You would be good,best to consider the material type of hose, line You chose to connect to the BOV for vacuum, pressure reference, if not using a electrically, ECU-PCM controlled BOV. 2. using the principle, reality described above with flexible tube, hoses, these same affects, results will exist with the lin, tube to the BOV for pressure reference. E. Certainly We all, especially You, Your wife, Your friends, buddies, sponsors, desire for You to succeed, have success, achievement, enjoyment, along with safety too. F. Hopefully You will consider, accept these points, ideas, concepts, principles and suggestions with the good, proper intents and purposes they are directed. As always, continuing, All The Best and Much Success, Health, Happiness and Well Being 😊, Sincerely ☺

I know it's a little late in thed game but have thought about the water cooler under the air intake I seen a episode of engine master's looked pretty clean looking forward to more videos thanks
@Burndown Жыл бұрын
Yeah that is why I bought the intake. At some point ill probably get one like that but they are spendy is all and im out of budget for this thing before RMRW at this point. If this set up works well ill leave it alone and just enjoy the car for a while as is.

Weld a tab on your intake tube and use Adel clamps to hold those hoses along it. ;)

Talking about the BOV, many people prefer to have it on the TB side of the cooler. The theory is that every cooler have some pressure drop, and this way you keep some pressure. Some also talk of keeping the velocity of the air in most of the ducting as high as possible make some difference in the responsivenes of the engine. Would this make any difference to your car that has an auto trans, and for what you're using the car for? I doubt it.
@Burndown Жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought about that as well. I had a BOV on my last intercooler and the welds split on it on the dyno. Welds were on the edge and not great but my buddy KP welded it back up for me at the time.
