I'm so glad y'all liked this movie. It was probably my favorite movie of the year and I'm so happy it's getting the love it deserves despite horrible marketing and being politicized in the US even before its opening weekend.

Fun fact: The reason Ember and Wade were able to touch without killing each other was because a real scientific phenomenon known as the Leidnefrost effect. It's when water like Wade touches a hot surface like Ember which creates a layer of steam that acts as an insulator for Wade, preventing him from vaporizing and by extension, Ember from getting extinguished.

It's funny how almost every reactor goes, "But the storm happened once... why did they have to leave?". Because when the Irish came after the potato famine everyone said the same lol. "Well why don't they plant something else and stay?"

22:29 I’m SHOCKED I’ve seen absolutely no one talk about this character…but honestly that’s how it should be. It gives representation (very minimal but it’s something) but isn’t the main focus of advertising to the point where it sparks controversy. It really shouldn’t be a big deal imo

I've seen like, one person talk about them and it was purely anger at the company for including them without making them plot relevant. Like.... The fact they're there at all is awesome given just them existing can unfortunately be enough for censorship in certain countries..

I love Elemental, I actually saw it in LA at the El Capitan where they have all the premieres and it was so cool they had dancers and an organ player and stuff but I saw it twice more at home. Quite weird coming back to the UK and it not even being out for another month!

Funny you were saying how the film *visually* communicates that Ember's parents are immigrants at the start, as it just made me realise this movie *doesn't* happen opening narration. That trope is so done to death in animated films nowadays, even if it makes sense in some, that it's actually refreshing when it doesn't happen. Come to think of it, I don't think _Luca_ had opening narration either, and I gotta give them credit for that to.

31:33 I agree, there is a difference between being Lonely and being Alone. Having experienced both, I learned that being Lonely In a Relationship is more painful than being alone could ever be. While it is possible to find happiness by yourself, the definition of lonely is being sad.

“No castle actually looks like that though, right?” Fun fact: Walt Disney was inspired by the Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau, Germany. Couple of hours from Munich. It was the inspiration for the castle in Sleeping Beauty. And also Cinderella’s castle I believe. I haven’t been to Germany yet but that castle looks incredible!!

I’m so glad you guys love this movie as much as I did. This movie means so much to me for MANY reasons. The first reason was I was able to see this movie at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood & it was my first time watching a movie there! Second reason is that my parents immigrated from the Philippines to Canada & basically try to provide the best life for me 🥹🥰 I definitely just noticed the gender fluid characters you mention & I was like this is great! Because Disney didn’t advertise these characters but instead let them came into the scene organically 🙌🏽 Overall, this is definitely Pixar’s best romantic movie up to date 😍🤩🥰

In America we just call it "Do the wave". I had no idea it was known as the "Mexican Wave" elsewhere lol
@embercello9688 Жыл бұрын
I've never heard it referred to as the "Mexican Wave" before either. Apparently there's some contention about where it originated, but I've always understood it to have started at the University of Washington. I attended a Huskies game in the late-70s/early-80s and participated in one of the very first ever waves. I recall a male cheerleader instructing / leading us in the action and it being a really cool experience to be part of and witness as a young teen.

Making a blanket statement about girls being crazy in relationships is harmful. I know you're half joking, but girls already face a lot of stereotypes and crap from men who call them crazy over small things. Half the time women can't say anything negative without being called crazy or difficult. And there are plenty of dramatic men out there. Like the ones who think they're owed a relationship if they treat you nicely. I'm sure yall are nice people, and I've only seen a handful of videos on your channel, so maybe I just don't know your humor well enough. But that comment was kind of out of line and misogynistic. Great react otherwise.
