I watched you a lot when I first started. In fact, I watched most of the familiar watercolor “beginner tutorials” on KZbin, and it seemed like they were all teaching the same thing. I’ve spent a year following the wonderful and talented artist, Louise De Masi. My paintings were/are beautiful, and they looked very much like hers! Ultimately, that is not what I wanted. I wasn’t relaxing, and having a fun time because I put so much pressure on myself to be like her. I want to be me, to find my own style, and I think that means learning to paint loosely. And learning that means starting over, learning how to old my brush, learning how to create simple, beautiful brush strokes. I searched through KZbin and my books, and here I am, back where I started with a much better understanding and appreciation for your instruction and beautiful painting techniques. Thank you for all the effort you have put into your channel. Some people are meant to teach, and you are one of those people.

I love that you do not take yourself so seriously that you will not share the "bloopers." Those are such gems - esp because you seem to get a kick out of them as well!! Please do not ever change - even as your success continues to grow!!

I like that too. I love when people include bloopers lol.

I totally agree! Great energy and her laughing at herself made me feel more comfortable watching the videos (Yay! She didn’t edit out her blooper! She’s definitely human 😜)

Holy crap! You helped me have a major breakthrough!!!! I’ve been painting for years… literally over night figured out what I was doing wrong (for context I’ve been painting and drawing for several years). THANK YOU!!!

I’ve decided to dive into painting from scratch, as I wasn’t taught everything I needed to know about brushes and different painting techniques, regarding water coloring in uni. I was told watercolor painting is the hardest, but with videos like this I know I can do it❤

You CAN do it! Enjoy the process and journey with watercolor! 💕

This is so relaxing to watch. I'm going to give this a try. The design reminds me of those dangling Christmas ornaments you sometimes see. Great tutorial and I thank you!

This is a great exercise! My granddaughter and I did it together and it was not only a great way to practice holding the brush in different ways but it was amazing to see the reaction between the watercolors. When we started I was thinking the colors would mix when they met but instead it was more science? The more pigmented (less water mixed with the paint) or heavier paint wins over colors that are mixed with more water or are less dense by nature. Very cool!

I am wondering what a good brush would be to use. I've tried a few but would like some reccomendations. I especially like to paint florals.

In your book, you write to use a #6 brush for this exercice (Day 2) and in this video you use a #16 brush. If I have a LOT of struggle to make this exercice and to know how much water to let on the brush, will it be easier with a brush #6 or #16 ? Thank you ! I LOVE your channel and everything you do !😊
@74clementine3 жыл бұрын
Ok, think I got it : brush # 16 worked for me ! Because it’s bigger, it contains more water and I could make the exercice properly. And it looks even decent !

As an absolute beginner, I notice you hold the brush guiding with the second finger, does that grip give you better control?
