Those are all beautiful and buttery. They have a very antique farmhouse look to them. Would adding neutral tint to them change them a lot ? I’m taking your Cultivated Color class and not very experienced with color mixing yet. I really look forward to watching your new videos every Monday 🙂
@kellyhoernig
@kellyhoernig 2 ай бұрын
Neutral tint would give them a deeper look than the french ultramarine. The colors would be more greenish and greyish than on the blue side. Thanks for asking!

Looks a lot like Naples yellow and Naples yellow reddish - I’m no expert. Are they the same. The Holbein no 1 is beautiful on its own. It reminds me of our spring primroses here in Ireland.
@kellyhoernig

They do resemble the naples colors for sure. I think the naples are stronger and more opaque than these though, at least with the naples I have, especially the schmincke. How inspiring knowing they reminded you of primroses, lovely!

I have all of those color/hues but they are called various naples yellow (hues?) by the brands I own. Brown is my favorite color but since I have started really using colors it has rolled out to yellow, orange, red and now green. I guess nature is my favorite color.

They are very similar to naples but with a bit more orange I think. Love that your color palette is expanding yet focuses on nature - I know it is beautiful!

Ok I must comment on why??? You do not have thousands more followers? I just noticed the number!!!! Going to get the word out and spread your brilliance! ❤ and before I have even watched will help with “ yellow” in French pronunciation is a soft “ j” not hard so you are close. So soft j for similar sound of john and you will have it. I don’t use most of these yellows so going to dive in and enjoy as always. ❤❤❤❤

I have been eyeing on the Schminke Jaune brilliant, full pan, the other chice would be Shinhan and I don't like the shade. Of these I would defenently go for the Mıjello 1. Thank you again for the awsome review, so thourough!

This video is helpfull as always, thanks for it❤. But I just don't understand, why didn't shift the jaune/blue-mix into green? Is because of this blue? Or is something in this yellow that prevent this shift?
@kellyhoernig
@kellyhoernig 2 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it and I think the shift was more grey/brown because of the orangish tone of the colors. Blue and orange are complementary colors (across from each other on the color wheel) so they tend to grey instantly. Hope this helps.

It fascinates me how different brands use the same pigments and come up with something completely different than their competitors. The word Jaune is french for Yellow, so you could say the colour is Yellow Brilliant. If you really want to pronounce it the a is silent and the J has Z sound to it. Kinda like the phrase "Zhuzh It Up" - to make something better. So it would sound like Zhu-une. You could also 'google translate' the word Jaune and click the speaker icon a hundred times like I did to hear how its pronounced, lol.
@kellyhoernig

Thank you so much for the pronunciation help, I appreciate it! I feel the same way with pigments and color variations. The whole process is just a magical mystery to me but I'm thrilled to play with the outcomes.

Very nice. ❤ It looks like you have one book dedicated to just this kind of studies. That seems like a smart way to do this. ❤😊 Do you have a separate book for color charts, or are they included in this book too?

Thank you for the question. This sketchbook holds my studio palette color information as well as all the color comparisons I have done so far. My colors charts are all larger, done on 11x15" single sheets of watercolor paper. These I keep in a portfolio to reference when I need them.

@@kellyhoernig Ah, nice. That makes sense 🤔. I was referring to the smaller comparisons of 5 water colors or less... the big charts seem overwhelming to me at this stage. Also, I love the way you put the banner up on top and framed the chart. It's very attractive. ❤️

@@windywednesday4166 I have a lot of sketchbooks going at one time, many of the 5 color ones end up in my daily sketchbook just because I play and try so many color combinations all the time. I am trying to make the brand swatching and the color comparisons look pretty and varied just so it isn't only squares all the time. Thanks for noticing the set up!
