I tell people to put things in, in odd numbers and i get crickets back before they rush to ignore me. One of the very first things I learned from you, was to put the yellow on the first layer and the green on top - it makes such a difference! And I love playing with alternative colors, like blues on the yellows, or red iron oxide, cause not everything is spring green, and I feel that some decay in a picture enhances the beauty. Thanks for another lovely video!

Have you seen the Etchr Mirror for artists? Aussie company worth supporting. It allows you to draw onto wc paper from a pic on a phone or iPad. So I guess you would take a pic of your sketch, then ‘project’ it onto the paper, skipping the graphite steps. Simple but effective technology. Lovely painting, and fab cast shadows!

Superb painting Louise! How do you cut away the outside tape to get straight even edges? Do you use a ruler?
@LouiseDeMasi4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tricia. I use a sharp knife to cut it from the board. I pry the staples out of the board with a letter opener. I pull the staples out of the paper and then I trim the gummed tape off the paper with my paper cutter. It gives me a nice straight edge.

When you use your own photos is there a photo editing program you use to get the picture to scale to transfer to paper. A friend sent me the most gorgeous woodpecker but the file size when I print from my phone is just too big and I don’t know how to scale it down. I don’t draw so I like to trace my pictures to the watercolor paper. Thank you for any guidance you can provide.
@LouiseDeMasi9 ай бұрын
I use Photoshop to resize images but there are free image resize websites you can use. Type in 'free image resizer' into Google to find some.

@vivinicolajsen17526 ай бұрын
@@LouiseDeMasi Hi Louise. Do you print the photo, when you have resized it?
@katantonini4 жыл бұрын
I love fuchsia plants! How come you don’t use the Saral yellow paper? I use that whenever I am transferring a picture and there is no smudging at all. Also, because it transfers yellow, I never have any lines showing up after painting. No need to erase your lines to a saint tracing. I don’t know if you have tried that yet but you might want to try the yellow paper because it works beautifully.

I used 500 grams cold pressed watercolor paper, after a while it seemed as if the paper no longer gripped or damaged ... this could be due to the quality because the paper is thick enough. What did I do wrong?
@hafsa264 жыл бұрын
I transfer my image on a tracing paper, by using a pen. I make my own 'graphite' paper using pencil that is scribbled on plain paper, which I place down on the watercolour paper. The tracing paper is placed on top of the 'graphite' paper & then I re-draw the image. Here is video showing more soft edges in a loose, floral painting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJiQqoGDjbGKfNE

@donaldquarles83644 жыл бұрын
You made statements at the beginning of the video that make it seem you are limiting your art, in order to make KZbin tutorials. This is the main reason I avoid becoming a KZbin artist. Art comes first for me, so it’s a decision I’ve made. I do appreciate however if being a teacher is of higher importance to you. Your service is also valuable.
@Rita123xyz4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Louise for the tutorial and thanks for teaching us. Donald thanks for nothing lol! You do you!
@LouiseDeMasi4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Donald. I meant for my Patreon tutorials rather than my KZbin tutorials. When I make my Patreon tutorials I don't skip over anything. Here on KZbin my tutorials are 15 to 20 minutes long whereas my Patreon tutorials are between 1 and 2 hours long. They take many days to complete and the more involved the painting is the longer the tutorial will be. I prefer to keep some of them a bit simpler so I can produce them quicker and so my patrons don't become overwhelmed. When I paint for myself I take my time and put lots more detail in. I try to paint for myself as often as I can because I enjoy it so much more when I'm not inhibited by the camera so I understand what you mentioned.
