I started painting with a set almost identical to that. You can really do a lot with it.

I started watercolor with that exact set of paints. Some of the colors were nice. I’ve come a long way since then but it was a good place to start.

I’m happy you didn’t quit, but kept going on your watercolor journey! Do you post your art anywhere? I’d love to see it and support you.😊

I would enjoy watching a tutorial using high quality products. You have to be a really good artist, to paint with cheap products and get decent results🖌🧡🍂🖤

For inexpensive products, your painting looked great. A pianist i know played am amazingly on a toy piano. So if you're good at what you do, it makes a difference. That being said, id use the best supplies i can afford to make art.

Thanks for watching 😊 great point about the pianist.

This was a very fun video! I know the materials made the process harder but the resulting artwork looks very nice and your friend seemed to like this painting better! I'd love to see a video of the same painting with high quality materials please!

Thank you 😊 I will aim to make the same painting this week. Thank you for watching.

It’s great to have the cheap watercolour paints to start and they offer a good range of colours. Cheap watercolour paper? No way. It’s just so frustrating.

I need to know how you made paint look like pencil marks 😮
@Watercolorshark3 ай бұрын
It’s called the dry brush technique and it involves letting your brush bristles get messed up like a bad hair day, by dabbing the brush on your towel and painting with all the bristles frayed out. Now each frayed bristle will make marks like a colored pencil. Lots of details in a short period of time.

Still looks good, since it isn't the materials that make good art, but you, the accomplished artist who has techniques and skills. This will indeed fade over time, most likely within a couple of months when exposed to light. You're unlucky though, we have a dollar store chain over here that actually has a selection of decent student quality art products, including watercolor paper.

Thanks for watching Benjamin! Yeah I ended up painting the same reference photo again, but this time with higher quality supplies and the colors ended up being more vivid and didn’t fade.

An artist can make a masterpiece using coffee and printer paper if that's all they have.
@Watercolorshark3 ай бұрын
From my experience artists tend to stop doing art when they stop enjoying the process. So anything that excites an artist to create, I’m for. If it is art made by coffee (which I’ve done) then, do it! If buying this brush over that brush makes the process more enjoyable and you can afford it, do it. I’ve been really consistent over the years with my art because I’m paying attention to what excites me and helps me to enjoy the process as much as possible. I want to do art for the long run. And like most hobbies, when you’re not having fun, you’re done.

Create work with whatever you have and give it to anyone you want. I still have crayon drawings from my kids and ink doodles that have lasted over 20 years. Unless someone's work is going into a museum, there's no reason to bother with expensive supplies or fret about archival quality. No one's beginning paintings need to be archival. Almost every piece of art that's ever created is going to end up in a trash dump. Telling beginner artists they need archival supplies is ridiculous.

Hey Serenity! I get what you’re saying. I just don’t want to charge people a high price for my art if the art fades away after two years. So it really depends, on the purpose of the art. Who is it for? Is it being hung on grandma’s fridge or an art gallery. Some galleries are very particular about how art is matted and framed. I appreciate your encouragement to young and old to create with whatever you have. We need more artists using their gift to brighten up this world.
