Omg. I do a million things too. It used to bother me and still does a bit but I have come to accept it since I am not going to change and I love having a lot of interests. It’s who I am. I would be very bored with one thing only. Now I just say I am an artist/ writer. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. No worries. Keep on keeping on and be happy.

Oh Dana - you are such an angel. When watching your videos you not only teach me new things, but your beautiful voice lulls me into this peaceful place where I feel so good. I would call you an Artistic Entrepreneur..... (and an absolutely amazing watercolour artist). Change is one of the certainties in life. You will go through many changes and metamorphoses in your life. Embrace change. Sometimes people tend to get focused on the planning and do not do enough living. I'm not saying don't plan - obviously it is very important, but sometimes you must just relax and go with it and just see where things lead. Just remember - breathe and ensure you have a good balance in your life. Make ample time for your loved ones, have fun, love and laugh. Look at me, I'm turned 50 this year and thought NOOOO what happened. But now I look back at myself and see what I've gone through - the good, the bad and the ugly, and how much I've changed since my 20's. My career has gone up and down, changed 360 degrees. But I love who I am now. AND the biggest change in my life is that I have just now picked up a paint brush and joined a professional art class. I want you to know that you are such a wonderful inspiration to me. I am shortly going to be starting doing watercolours in my art class - and cannot wait. It is YOU that has made me want to paint watercolour! Sending you a huge hug from Durban, South Africa.

Dana, your story sounds so very similar to mine. Ive never published a book or did rental properties but Anything I do relates to Art and Creating. I make Watercolor greeting cards for customers and for 2 Gift Shops. I create acrylic artwork, do several art fairs which takes a lot of time to set up a pretty booth...etc. I do hand lettering projects for customers, I make jewelry out of repurposed vintage pieces. Im ALL OVER THE PLACE! Especially in my creative mind and I do get frustrated alot because I dont have enough time to do all I want to do. Anyway, my point is whenever someone asks me what I do for a living, I simply say I am an Artist. Being a creative thats exactly what I do. Create ART in any way shape or form! Hope this helps in some way.

But I can't even get a basic job, or consistant income without the government yet. But I have so many ideas n want to create unique designs online etc etc But I was sick and still am with chronic medical, during web design at school n failed, n I can't staND WIX OR others as I'm used to adobe creative....N I'm a creative writers n never have lack of ideas EVER.....LOL n relationships too, I feel i get so lost in my own world that, all of a sudden, to realise that I'm lonely n then its too late, n forgot to organise social life LOL I kinda need to chat to likeminded people. Thank-you so much for sharing!!!!

I think Entrepreneur is a good thing to call yourself. Another book, eh? I have the first one, but haven't had time lately to do much with art. My son got married, so I've been really busy with getting things ready for that and then it went right into starting Christmas cards and such. Can't wait to see what you do with the next book though. Thanks!

This is awesome. Change is inevitable and you are a wonder forest. I would call myself an artist with many outlets. Honestly sometimes I wish I had your life but we all have seasons. Mine is currently being a mom to little children and wife and maybe once they get a little older I'll be able to get back into my Bohemian artist life. Maybe take a moment to decide what brings mental life to you whether that's a job that provides finances for food and shelter, or something you truly enjoy, and then think about taking out the things that are more obligations or things that year down your mind

Well, like I commented in another of your wonderful videos, I'm a freelance photographer and obviously things has changed dramatically when it comes to professional photography because nowadays, everyone can take pictures using their cell phones and that's ok to a certain point because well, the business of photography has decreased as what it used to be a few years back, specially here in my country (Mx.) Yes, sometimes I get worried about what's it's going to happen with me in the future but at the same time, I focus on keep working on in the present and I'm fortunate to be able to team up with my dad in our photography business, we run our own studio and we still have customers who are still appreciating the art of photography. :D

How's the title 'small business entrepreneur'? Sounds like it covers the many aspects of your interests and work settings. I am in my mid 30s. My hubby and I married 15 years ago and have 7 kiddies between 14 and 3 and I love it! Its only been in the past couple of years that I have been able to do more with my art, and when it was brought up I was either given a very sour look or a wowed look for being a self taught artist. The sour looks hurt so much...especially when art competitions would select their winners all from the same university with the same degree (and the first place piece looked like a coloring page from a Disney coloring book). I found an online school that awards diplomas with the completion of their course so I wouldn't have to say 'self taught' only to discover that I still get the same sour look because I'm "not actually on campus". I have come to the conclusion though, that being self taught or university taught doesn't really matter to me; it's the learning! I love learning! -- I guess, we have to find the title that we are happy with and decide why it really matters because we just can't please everyone. But speaking of pleasing; I love your youtube vids and they have helped me more than the school I'm enrolled with. Good luck on your discovery journey. I can't wait to get your book!

I envy you and your ability to make money doing different things. I work in a single career and while it has afforded me many things and a sense of stability, I feel unhappy with it for a many reasons... partly bc I feel trapped by it and I don't have the freedom to do what I want with my day. I bought your book watercolor with me in the forest and I love it! I've recently picked up a interest in water coloring , and am really enjoying it

Thank you for picking up my book and I'm glad you love it! I don't think I could ever work for someone else again... it's just not doable for me haha. Stability is great but you should feel happy about what you do as well. I hope there comes a time when you can not feel trapped

You are a “specialist creative entrepreneur” if you want to give your career a “title”. This multi-facet way of working will hold you in great stead for future dreams - Like making little people- as flexibility as in key in this stage of life- keep following what makes you happy and keep embracing change. It’s a perfectly wonderful way to live. Go you!

Darling girl, as a mature-aged woman who is well-past your stage in life, let me tell you from experience - you DO NOT have to choose. You are part of the generation who only stays a maximum 3yrs in a job or 7yrs in a career, yet you have had the good sense to diversify your income streams, to invest in education & make mature investment choices. IMHO That makes you a damn fine businesswoman. Diversification is the best thing you could do to ensure you always have an income. When life throws a spanner in the works, you are unlikely to be one of those people for whom misfortune snowballs into every area of their lives, as you have the skills to find work in more than one area. Be proud of having achieved so much, so young & be thankful for the great privilege of doing work that you enjoy. Most of my generation spent our lives in jobs we hated because it was "the right thing to do" (us Gen X's had parents who were post-war Baby Boomers). I woke up & enrolled in college at 45yo, & there were many other women there older than me, also waking up to the fact that our roles need no longer be defined by the expectations of others. Enjoy the freedom of being in the prime of your life. You are a businesswoman, but that word makes you sound like a stuffed shirt. 'Entrepeneur' is so overused & misused nowadays that using the word alludes to trashy & suspect business practices, so I wouldn't use that either. I'd go with saying you're either self-employed or freelance, consulting in Arts & Technology. People don't want the minutiae your income streams when they ask "What do you do?" they're either just being polite or they want something to 'file' you under, so they can recall who you are later. Just a taster is all they need, & if they ask for more, you decide whether they're worthy of more . Best wishes.

It's not so much about what you do, as who you are. The title you use to describe your income isn't as important as knowing you are honest, loyal, compassionate, have integrity in all your dealings, etc.

entrepreneur
@michellebonneau4136 жыл бұрын
you are a "Jill of many skills" it's ok to have many jobs but why do you want a definite title. depending on who you are talking to, pick one or two job titles to describe what you do. nobody needs to know everything you do unless you have them all combined in one place and under one name. Enjoy your many skills and live your life happily.
