Yes I love fuchsias & I am going to try doing watercolor on black paper, the blue, grey/gray, & tan’s papers as well. I am kind of nervous because it’s going to be my first time painting on papers that are not white. Thanks for sharing this wonderful fun & inspirational video with us.

Love fuchsias… I have 3 different ones growing in my garden and picked a sprig of the one similar to your to paint last night, but I did it on white paper. It is so effective on the black 😍

Kristy, I love your videos and have learned so much. Now I just need to get brave enough to try your methods. You make the stokes look so relaxing and smooth and I struggle to be free. I've always done acrylics and realistic painting and I so much want to be more relaxed in my painting that only seems to be possible with water color. Thank you! I hope to retire next spring (I'm 73 and think it's time) and hope to have more time to relax and maybe that relaxation will show in my painting. Again, thank you so much!!

I actually painted on black watercolor paper earlier tonight, but I always use metallic paints. I am definitely going to try using my watercolor paints now! Oh Yes!!! I have two in my house. The heat is getting to them, so the blooms are looking a little sad. I took pictures of them beforehand though, so can use that for reference. Thanks for sharing this on black paper, wouldn't have considered using that.

what also works very well is to use half a teaspoon of cornstarch with some water as a means to make your watercolor less transparent

I loved this project. Currently practicing animals in watercolor, as just cannot get hold on painting flowers… I just saturate the watercolor so much and then use a scrubber to lift dry color… I managed to paint some maple leaves decently but that is it. In some time I will try flowers again I guess. Thanks for the tips and video, I didn’t know black watercolor paper was produced. This was new for me.

It is yes! I use synthetic brushes exclusively so they show no issues with my level of gesso use over the years. I just clean them super well!

I've been experimenting with watercolor on black paper. My main problem is finding the correct amount of white paint (poster paint in my case) to add to the watercolor. Too much white paint and the color is desaturated.
