I could watch your videos all day! Your edge control is amazing. A few questions...Do you always start with the background and hair? The edges are so soft...have you pre-wetted the paper..both sides? What is the paper you use? I am thinking that the length of the brush bristles allows for the delicate edge control, yes/no? Assuming you are working from a photo, could you occasionally show the reference and....maybe show us your drawing process? In general, your work is exquisite and I am glad I stumbled on your channel....

I paint the background first, and I paint the theme first. It depends on the occasion. The soft edges are because they are painted before they are dried. If it's dry, you can also spray water. Paper uses a canson arches-rough. It is difficult to show references, you don't, but models don't want. If there's a model that says it's okay to show it, I'll show it to you. Is that a traditional Chinese calligraphy brush he uses most of the time? It looks flatter maybe because he is pressing on it all the time? Also is that just a big pad of heavily soaked paper towels that act as a second water source and absorbing excess paint at the same time?

It's an oriental brush. The paper is canson arches and is attached to the panel for use. They also spray water in the middle of painting. I can't speak English at all, so I use a translator. I'm sorry if you didn't understand my writing.

Simply superb especially looking at your palette and how you mix color is the best tutorial in the youtube. There are many tutorials online about watercolor painting but as you can't see the palette of the painter you cannot really learn how to mix color for tones and shades. Simply SUPERB.

Pretty sure those are water soluble acrylic, and water soluble oil. Not even gouache has that level of opacity. And/or the entire thing is fake. The bizarre distortion around the end of the brush whenever you use it, the gaussian blur that seems to follow you, there’s even instances where the colour coming off the brush is not what you charged it with. Possibly a tablet? At times the colours appear impossibly luminous. If your response is _“WOW! What an amazing watercolour painting,”_ there’s a good chance you’re responding to novelty, or the unfamiliar. As an evolutionary trait, new things get more attention by default. New thing = might be a tiger behind that tree = might die. Those who attend to their surroundings will out-last those who do not. In the instance of a watercolour painting where eg: white paint is used to obscure what’s beneath, it will command attention because you’ve never seen that before. And there’s a reason you haven’t seen that before. To wit; watercolours don’t do that.

If I had used acrylic paints in addition to watercolor paints, I would have called it mixed media. Believe it or not, I don't use any other paints when I paint with watercolor.
