I am using a masking tape :) even masking tape could rip your paper sometimes, so take it off slowly! :)

You can heat up the tape *very carefully * with a heat gun or hair dryer to help loosen the adhesive on the tape , which helps with not tearing the paper .

I use a heat gun on low About 6 inches away & move in closer slowly, always keep the gun moving back & forth along the tape, & slowly peel straight up at a 90 degree angle from the paper. I’ve had the same problem too, if the paper still rips stop & come in from the other side. I’ve had to use a paper cutter along the edges before 😂 you won’t need to take much off. Maybe practice with a scrap piece of your paper to get the hang of it. Any paper can rip, no matter how cheap or expensive. If you have the $$$ you can always buy blocks. I use blocks for landscapes whenever I can.
