I really like the color choices in this cactus painting. It's such a nice creative reminder that you can use any color that is calling to you, not just *green* for plant. This really makes me want to pull out some granulating Daniel Smith paint or a fun bright teal :)

I notice that you use purple dioxidine quite a bit. I've actually never used a purple; I've always mixed it. The cloeset I have is maroon perlyene (similar to alizirin crimson). Maybe I should invest in a purple at some point. How did you arrive at your choice of colors?
