I did some droplet photography last week and suspended a food bag above a bowl, pricked it with a needle which allowed drops to build up before it splashed, my photos came out really well

Thank you for all the EXTRA work you did to make a complete video as well as your clear explanations. Two units which you did not mention are the Mumford Time Machine and the Hi-Viz Astro Splash. What these two units have in common is that they do not show up in a casual search. I am building an Astro Splash and should be able to provide more info in a year or two. I am building a kit and all sorts of fun distractions (travel) seem to be slowing my progress!

Thanks for this presentation and greetings from 'down under'! I have the MIOPS outfit and have had loads of fun and frustration making water drop pictures. I worked with technical photography all my life and now, being no longer to do anything much at all due to 'end of life' disease winding me down, I'm able to do some bench top photography and set my camera on a mobility scooter to do bird photo's. I had never seen the bottom jet used before your video. I can manipulate a squirter bottle to a brass jet so something new to keep me busy. Thanks again and my best wishes.

Thank you so much for this wonderfully detailed tutorial. I have the Pluto water drop kit, and I love it, tho I'm just getting started. I bought the Pluto trigger for its other functionality, (lightening, motion, sound, time lapse, star trail...) so it was worth the extra investment. I came to your video particularly to find the info about additives. Very informative!

Hi Hi Gayle, brilliant video, I had already ordered the British version, and was looking at the other two items from the Chinese manufacture, I had noticed the notes about the voltage regulation, you have an option of choosing the shall pu22OAR -2 valve, 12volts or 24volts, chose the 12volt, but when it came to the shoot from below kit, it is only in the 22 volt version. What did you do in that case, did you buy two shall pu220ar -02 valves? Please advise. Thank you again.

Thank you very much for the kind words about the video. When buying the SFB kit from MJKZZ in China, I had to specify in a note with the order that I wanted a 12V valve and NOT a 24V valve in order for it to work with my SplashArt power supply and valve (both of which were 12V). I did not need to order a second valve, but I did need to order the MJKZZ controller since the SplashArt controller was not capable of controlling more than one valve. I strongly suggest you look at the US distributer (mjkzz.biz) as you will find much more updated MJKZZ products. Please email me at the address noted at the end of the video if you need more clarification.

Thank you so much Gayle for the update, I am just now seeing this message at this moment. Being an over the road truck driver it is not easy to find time to take pictures on the road or to be at home to practice the art. I like photography and the work you are doing so very much, just have to find a way out of the trucking business. Yet if u can take pictures like what you are demonstrating, then I could be selling the prints. Thanks again, will be in touch, if that is ok.

Thank you Gayle, I found your video very informative. I have the Splashart kit and have only just found out what SFB is after watching a video on the internet. I am interested to see it can be adapted to the kit I already have, although I'm not sure I'm technical enough to do it. I find dropping very addictive and would love to take it to the next level. :)

Glad you enjoyed the video. As you saw, I also started with the SplashArt kit. Besides having to check what voltage my SplashArt was in order to buy additional components with the correct voltage to match, I had to cut the wires going to the SplashArt controller box. You have to be careful and know what you're doing, so it's not for the 'faint of heart'. Price it out... you may be better off just starting with a completely new kit. I strongly recommend MJKZZ.

Hello Gayle I admire your droplet photos, especially the one with the "Shoot from Below". I am also a keen drop photographer and do SFB amongst other things. What strikes me about your photos is the absolutely smooth center ray in your SFB. I never manage that. My beam is always swirly. Can you give me a few tips? (Diameter / liquid thickened? / ... ?) Best regards Hansjürg

Hi great video and fantastic results. Can I ask what distance do you recommend having the valve from the top of the water bowl please
@ZizzoRider
@ZizzoRider 4 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind remarks. Lots of factors influence how the liquids react and what works for me may not work for you so experimentation is required! That said, I have found that a distance of about 16"-17" has worked well. I tried 15" and did not like the results. I have also gone higher and didn't notice much of a difference so dropped it back down. Hope this helps!

The MJKZZ kit controls more than one valve. So I can input the settings for the DFA (Drop From Above) valve, and then input the settings for the SFB (Shoot From Below) valve. Mine can actually control a third valve. They also sell a 6-valve kit.

Hi Gayle, this is simply the most comprehensive and easy to understand water drop Photography video I have ever seen. Thank you for taking the time to upload it. I have the stopshot kit, it controls three valves, do you know if I can add the MKJZZ SFB kit to my current set up? I look forward to seeing more videos in the future 😊😊😊
@ZizzoRider
@ZizzoRider Жыл бұрын
Hello Ben and thank you for the kind words about my video. I can not say whether or not the MJKZZ SFB kit will work with your Stopshot. They use completely different valves. I was fortunate in that the two kits I wanted to combine... the SplashArt and the MJKZZ used identical valves (had to match voltages though). So my combo worked fairly easily except for having to cut some wires. I would recommend you contact the folks at Cognysis and ask if their controller will work with a SHAKO valve. If so, find out what voltage would be needed - 12V or 24V and make sure you specify that voltage if you order the MJKZZ... by default, I believe they send 24V. If Cognysis sells valves separately, perhaps you could buy a second valve from them and try to adapt it to use as an SFB valve. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Also, ask questions on the Facebook Group... may find some help there.

This is an excellent presentation. I've used the Cognisys system in the past and loved it. I've looking at buying their "studio" version that connects to the computer to make it easier. Do you know if anyone has tried the SFB method with the Cognisys system? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Gayle, great video! Thanks for all the information. I am in the UK and I have a SlashArt Ultra - so it has 3 bottles and 3 valves, and a controller with a screen and I have just bought the drop controller SFB kit and managed to attach this to the controller. Can I ask whether you use the same working liquid in your SFB bottle? And also what nozzle do you use at the bottom? In my first attempts, I am getting a very 'fat' spike from below.
@ZizzoRider
@ZizzoRider Жыл бұрын
Hello Lynne. Although I have experimented with many variations, I usually use the same thickened water + paint mix for the SFB without the other additives, such as soap, rinse aid, etc., which go only in the DFA bottle. As for your thick jet, if I'm seeing this correctly on the dropcontroller web site, they provide a 4mm nozzle for the SFB. That's likely the problem. I use a 2mm nozzle.

@ZizzoRider
@ZizzoRider Жыл бұрын
It varies. I've tried everything from plain water to the same liquid as in the DFA bottle. Often, I'll use a more dilute thickened water with a different color paint... usually a color that mixes well (color wise) with the paint in the DFA bottle. If things don't go well, I'll start adding other additives such as glycerin or rinse aid.

@ZizzoRider
@ZizzoRider 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words on my video. I don't think the MIOPS can control more than one valve, which means you would have to buy a whole new system. You can check dropcontroller or mjkzz, but the cost will be considerable either way. If you are on Facebook, there are several waterdrop Facebook Groups where you can get information. There is also a Facebook Group specifically geared toward MIOPS users. Hope this helps. Good luck.
