Hi Bibi! Your instructions are great; however, I am really new to this--I've never made a waterfall before and I'm trying to use this technique in an "exploding box scrapbook" for some great friends who are getting married. I want my friend to be able to use larger photos (4" x 6"--maybe trimmed a bit smaller) so I appreciate being able to change the sizes. But I don't understand how to size the base piece--is there a formula or something I can use so I know how big to make that base? That's the one that's folded every 3/8" and has the slit cut into it. I'm so sorry for my difficulty in understanding something that's probably very simple for others! Thank you!
@BibiCameron8 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for asking. The base piece/card base can be any size but It need to be larger than the mechanism piece ( saying 1" larger). See minute 2:10. I will advice to make one of this cards first and once you understand how the mechanism works you will be able to make it any size. You can trim the pictures to fit your design. I tried this just yesterday and when I pulled it, the first 3 panels flipped together (I made 4 panels). When I pushed it back though, the panels flipped back individually so that part is fine. Am I doing something wrong in the first part?
@BibiCameron8 жыл бұрын
oh darling not sure what it could be happening with your project. it could be the paper you used to create the pull up tab ( need to be cardstock) the way you pasted the panels? I can't tell.

What kind of paper is that ? colored paper only ?
@BibiCameron7 жыл бұрын
Jerico Rangpas scrapbook paper . Thick and lovely sold by Stampin' Up! You can use any other patterned paper. And the card base and mechanism was made with 240g cardstock .
@damibabatunde15719 жыл бұрын
I have a other question I'm sorry for asking so many. I know you said the thickness of the mechanism won't affect it but I was wondering if the length is 11.5 and the size of the pull out part is 10cm then how is it 1cm from the top and bottom because that would be more than 11.5, and when you cut out the frame how far over so you cut. I was wondering if the right side was 2cm thick like the other side or are the different. Thank you
@BibiCameron9 жыл бұрын
+Dami Babatunde no worries its fine. thanks to your questions I decided to check my blog post vs the card here and I know what you mean. I found the frame -edges measures about 0.75mm 0.8mm - 1/4" inch. "it is not an exact centimetre" this is not as important as I mention in the video and the important is that the inner frame have the same length than your panels whatever their measurement are so that the mechanism works fine. And the card base should be cut at least 1" larger accordingly this measurements so you have space to paste the frame ( mechanism) on top and create an enough thick frame for this card. I'm not fan of measurements but in the logic of the things and I see you got it. I hope you can play a bit and found your own way to create a beautiful waterfall card ( my english is not great so I hope you can understand me). please let me know how this goes. x

i was wondering when i tried this the piece that is 13.5 x 10 cm seems a lot bigger than mine. i was wondering if those measurements were accurate. please and thank you
@BibiCameron9 жыл бұрын
+Dami Babatunde thanks for asking. Yes all measurements are 100% accurate for this specific card design. but you can make it in different sizes as well. For details please visit : www.bibicameron.co.uk/2015/09/waterfall-card-tutorial-in-this.html
@damibabatunde15719 жыл бұрын
+Bibi Cameron one more question, the piece that you use for the mechanism (the pink stripped piece) since it is 13 X 11.5 do you just cut at the 10cm mark to make the part that you glue on, and also when you are scoring the pieces together, do you fold both the pink and black pieces together or just one of the pieces of paper. Thanks again
@BibiCameron9 жыл бұрын
Dami, please check this in my blog.in the link provided you will find pictures so you will understand how to cut the piece. Score the backing black card stock only in 1 edge to paste it to the pink striped paper as shown in the video.

Is the 1cm allowance really needed for each panel? :( Because I've seen other waterfalls that don't have that 1cm allowance. Vl
@BibiCameron9 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for asking. There are so many ways to do this as people to do it. :) Please know this is only 1 option and If you want to make an exact card as in this video you might need to use the measuremts provided but you can also create your own waterfall design in any size once you understand how the mechanism works. You will be surprised how easy it is once you make 1. X
@BibiCameron9 жыл бұрын
The cm allowance is not onLy a reference measurement for pannels allowance it is also the distance between scoring lines in the mechanism which is kind of important to get pannels hiding behind the others. So if your panel allowance is 5mm then your scoring lines on the mechanism should go at 5mm this is the logic of hiden panels on a waterfall card... :)

is it okay if i make more than 4 pages ?
@BibiCameron8 жыл бұрын
I think so, but this also depend on the size of your project and the kind of paper you use. I will make a bigger card if I want to add 6 or 8 pages so the last ones won't be so small . You need to be careful because it can be bulky as well so try to use a thin but strong paper. I will give this a try as I never try more than 4 pages and I'll be sharing my findings here. Thank you Don. let me know how your project goes. x hugs Bibi

hi there, you can use a ruler and something to trace the scoring lines. e.g "a pen with not ink" put a notebook underneath so you get better scoring lines. x I hope this tip help you. I used to do that when I was in school and I didn't have' professional paper craft tools. :)
