THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG Multi-Pro in Satin at Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
Golden, Atelier, and Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Deep Gold. 3:1 Floetrol to paint.

Absolutely stunning. The Wild Altantic and Billibong really show up so beautifully. Dried so pretty. I love your little blue man. At first I saw an abstract tall slender standing up tall surreal blue bird but can definitely see your little man, he's very cool! Too funny! I just used almost exactly those same colors this weekend - I was just screwing around and making colors that I liked with basic Michael’s and hobby lobby stuff and mixing them. And my colors came out similar to yours although my designs didn’t come out so hot, lol I liked how pretty the colors came out. This is really pretty Karen. It’s like an icy blue metallic. I just mentioned Jodi the other day… I miss you like crazy too. I really like the colors in this series. I always look for the waterfall effect to happen when you do a painting. Your work is not all about the cells. It's alway a about the compotion. That seems to come from the waterfall effect. Own it! It's your talent!

So, hey, I buy "oops" frames all the time, I used to work in custom framing, and I can make custom stretcher bars and canvas to fit the frame, then choose a palette that would look good in that frame. Your work is absolutely recognizable! You're not conceited you have every right to love that line work because I would love to be able to get that line work myself but the paint moves in mysterious ways and I'm just along for the ride. Hoping you feel better. Not conceited. To paraphrase Mark Twain, "There's no such thing as an original idea;" because we take our ideas from multiple teachers, to spin it (no pun intended) into a style that's all Waterfall Acrylics only compliments the instructors. I believe it is evidence that teachers have empowered the student who improve upon what they've gleaned. Ten students in one classroom may see a single drip in ten different ways, and I think that's a beautiful thing. It keeps life colorful. Or, to put it another way: I get the impression from you that you'd be happy if a student of yours came up with a signature style based in part from your lessons. To paint something as strong and delicate as you have is a testament to your skill. To develop a style that leads to these results is beyond amazing,
