WATERFALLS ROUTE · TOLOX - ✨ Magical Towns of Spain

Discover with us this wonderful hiking route that starts from the town of Tolox, a Magical Town nestled in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, in the province of Malaga.
To start, we will go to the Balneario de la Fuente Amargosa, well guarded by the Monument to the Ibex, and then begin a demanding climb up the eastern slopes of Cerro El Jaral.
Little by little, the orography will leave behind great views of Tolox and the surrounding mountains to face the route that goes halfway around the valley of the Río de los Caballos. An enclave full of steep ravines through which water flows in the form of waterfalls, cascades and pools.
We will therefore enjoy beautiful natural landmarks such as the Cascada Horcajuelo, the Salto de la Rejía or the Charco de la Virgen, the latter located in the lower part of the valley.
Finally, we will visit the beautiful surroundings of the La Laja Dam to return to the Balneario de Fuente Amargosa via the Puentes de los Voluntarios.

🔖 From TOLOX you can climb Pico Torrecilla, a route that we have not yet done. However, we leave you a video in which you can climb this peak from the Los Quejigales Recreational Area.

Buenas. Tenemos planeada esta ruta y quisiera saber si es peligrosa. En el vídeo veo una zona que tiene una balaustrada metálica. En comentarios de usuarios de Wikiloc hablan de una zona de relativa peligrosidad y no sé si es ésta que comentas de la balaustrada. Creo que no existía hasta hace poco. Gracias de antemano y te ánimo ha seguir compartiendo rutas tan espectaculares como ésta. Saludos!!

Hola! Nosotros no encontramos zonas peligrosas por así decirlo. Muchas veces el peligro lo buscamos nosotros. Sí hay que tener precaución a la hora de vadear algunos arroyos y estar vigilantes en los senderos que se asomen a zonas escarpadas. La zona de la balaustrada es uno de esos tramos escarpados. Usando el sentido común y sin ir a lo loco no debe haber problemas. Muchas gracias! 😊
