Great video! Thanks or the information, I just ordered the same set up. Just waiting on Matuska’s slow shipping on the arbor and wheel so I can get started. The motor and coupling arrived in two days. This set up saved me hundreds compared to what McKenzie and Matuska wanted for their bird flesher’s. Good luck on your new endeavor.

Have been thinking of making one myself. Fleshing with scissoring had me wondering if taxidermy was for me (and I'm a patient person, too). This is so simple, I may just make my own this summer and see if it goes a little faster!

How’s the motor holding up? Curious as to how many birds you’ve done and whether you’d change anything. I’ve heard of fan motors not lasting. Any issues with high temp shutdowns?
@DuckalopeOutdoors
@DuckalopeOutdoors 5 ай бұрын
It’s holding up. I’ve done around 300 birds with it now since I’ve built it. I would try to figure out a way to bring the wheel further away from the motor to allow more room for working with larger birds like geese. Also the screws inside the container that holds it to the board. Cleaning up around the screws to keep fat from running down to them and possibly getting thru could raise issues. I clean it after every bird tho. It’s been lasting and I like that the wheel will stop even by grabbing it with your hand so that way you won’t get the spin of death on a bird if one happens to get caught up. I haven’t had an issue with it over heating.

@@DuckalopeOutdoors I spend hours defatting ducks, I think I'm going to make the move and build a deflesher. You have truly inspired me. I've been a taxidermist for 20 years and I mainly mount ducks. This is definitely going to help.

I would want the wheel a little closer to me. So maybe a shallower tote?
@DuckalopeOutdoors
@DuckalopeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yes if you want it closer to you having the tote be more shallow would help that. I went with what I did so I can ensure the entire bird is in the container. When working with geese I wouldn’t want the fat being slapped around on my kitchen table when moving the skin around. All personal preference!
