The Carene had such a distinctive and beautiful style. That inlaid nib it quite fascinating. Its so good to see, such a classic pen still in production. The big original makers have often left their classic pens behind. But Waterman still continues with really classic looking pens.

I’ve bought an almost unused and rather old Carène marbled green just a couple of weeks ago, this particular version (the green one has been produced just for some years) being a true joy… indeed I’m using it all day long equipped with standard 4001 ink: a masterpiece !

I've always liked the Waterman Carene collection and have a Black rollerball which is a high quality writing instrument. The Brown with gold options is one that really strikes me as one I would write with often.

I love Waterman pens; have six of them already, including two stunning Carenes, the essential silver which I like best and the other in amber and gold. I love inlaid nibs; I have a few superb Sheaffer pens with similarly stylish and sublime smooth writing inlaid nibs. The Carene is in my Top 5 favourite fountain pens of all time. I carry and use it almost daily. It’s worth every dollar ($265) I paid for each of my pair of these truly chic and wonderful pens.

The Carene has a polarising design in my opinion. I sometimes get attracted to the profile of the carene and sometimes get put off by some of the design details. I know that it is a wonderful writer just like the Waterman Exception I own. Waterman as a brand gets quite overlooked by the pen community these days. I must say that they are extremely well made pens. Their customer service is second to none. Thank you for making this video and promoting the brand.

I love this fountainpen. Ever since I worked at the Bijenkorf and sold these pens. The carene was my favorite. Never bought it, because I was a student. But to me it wrote even better and nicer than the Mont blanc legrand meisterstuck fp. Beautiful pen, just because it's so unique because the nip is so beautiful integrated in the pen. #freefountainpenfriday

I have a 149 and a Carène. They both write beautifully. That said I use the Carène more frequently because it has a fine nib vs the broad on the 149. For note taking on lined paper I find that preferable. I do prefer the Mont Blanc for writing letters. I don't think anybody does a fine 18k nib as well as Waterman.

They look absolutely stunning. My father-in-law has the rollerball and mechanical pencil of the Carene line. He is very content with them. I’m more of a fountain pen enthusiast and wonder how this one will write.

Yesterday it was my birthday and the present from my loved daughter has been the Carène amber/gold. I can say I have several f.pens, cheap and expensive but no one ever impressed me as this one at hand’s touch. And the F nib, I can say it flies smoothly on any paper I’ve tried. It is a real state of the art design, concept and performance writing instrument. Get one asap you can.

i actually have always wanted a waterman & this pen is really neat. i like that it’s made of brass and lacquer which reminds me of my own first fountain pen which i do miss (rip). the design is neat and i quite like the tapering ends of it. it’s interesting to me that it’s also available as a mechanical pencil but maybe i just don’t look at luxury pens enough. i prefer spring-loaded clips like on the waterman carène because i have a tendency to just pull the clip for no reason & it’s more fun if it has a spring (maybe i’m a child) and less likely to break. my first-ever fountain pen was a snap-cap, and rather secure at that. many pens are twist-on but i love the simplicity of snap-caps because it’s just so easy to get writing. also, that nib is beautiful and indeed absolutely iconic. the curved shape of the inlaid nib and the way it rests on the end is lovely. i don’t yet have a gold-nib pen but i do hope to have one one day. i personally don’t prefer to post my pens because my hands are small but the fact that the weight is balanced across the pen when posted is good to know.

A great looking pen but has Waterman fixed the two issues that plague this pen, the skipping due to the converter starving the nib and bleeding leaking through the vent hole? I understand that the leaking can be cured by using a cartridge in lieu of their converter.
