Thank you for comparing to Serenity blue...I was wondering about that. Actually all the ink comparisons were helpful! And of course, I always love seeing a water resistance test. 🌊 Great review as always!!

Thanks for this Kathy! I just got a bottle of Mysterious Blue a couple of weeks ago. I like the colour but I find it is a dry ink compared to an Iroshizuku. I know how much work these videos are in exploring the same ink in various pens and papers, so your videos are much appreciated.

Such a helpful video on so many levels thank you. I’m finding a bottle of this really dry with a Schmidt and Jowo #5 nib both EFs - both dry nibs so lots of friction with the WMB. I’ve been looking for an alternative and whilst I love the saturation of Oxford Blue, find it a bit dark so will see if I can try the deatrementis or another Diamine.

Nice to see you delve into Waterman inks. I feel they are the best overall. They work with every pen, nib, paper, and occasion. In fact, Waterman Serenity and/or Mysterious Blue is the only 'must have' in my whole fountain pen hobby. The inks shades, sheens, and even make a great cup of coffee LOL. Lately I've been loading up on blue and blue/black inks. They are so versatile. I think Faber Castell make the best nibs. I have an E-Motion and a Schulfuller - unbelievably smooth. Great video as always. PS. Would have liked to see you sample your Sailor 21k nibs

Thanks Mike. I can't believe I waited so long to try Waterman inks. I still have a sample of Tender Purple that I need to put through it's paces. My sister let me try her Faber-Castell Grip. It's an inexpensive pen, but wow, it was a smooth writer. I don't own any pens with 21k nibs...yet.
@ironmic92443 жыл бұрын
@@gadgetstop321 I don't like the way most Faber Castells look. I find them too utilitarian, but the nibs, the nibs. When I saw the E Motion in Crocodile Ivory, I had to get it. The Schulfuller is a $10 pen, has a triangular grip like the Safari, but is rubber, so it is actually comfortable. It only comes in M though, and it's a pretty wet M. At some point I guess I'll get a Von Graf Faber Castell. I thought you had a couple of Sailor Pro Gears? That is why I thought you had 21K nibs.

I get what you're saying about Faber-Castell. I have a Pro Gear Slim and a 1911 Standard and they both have 14k nibs. I'd like to try a 21k nib.

@@gadgetstop321 I'll get a Realo one day. I want one with a bicolor nib. Something about those German brands; either they're so plain and boring, or elegant and classy. I feel the same way about Lamy, but I do enjoy my Studio.

I would like my F-C Ambition even more if the body were heavier or the cap was lighter. I use it unposted so it's not a deal breaker, but it would feel more refined if it were more balanced.

Nice review. I’ve found it to be a dry ink that can change colour with age on the page much like Parker Blue/Black. All part of the crazy world of Blue/black inks.

Hi, Kathy! I believe that these dark blue inks are an optimal alternative to the blue royal inks. I have Pelikan 4001 blue black and Herbin bleu nuit. Both are dry and need a generous ink flow to express their full potential. Pelikan turns gray as it dries. The Herbin does not. The Waterman Mysterious Blue is very similar to the Herbin bleu nuit, although wetter. For me, it performs very well with all your pens. I just need to know if it is up to the same level as the Serenity blue. About the Perkeo, you have described very well the writing sensation, "pencil on paper". Yesterday I received my Faber-Castell Ambition, thank you for your attention to my request 😄. I am really very impressed with its writing 😊. The nib is wonderful. Most of my pens (which aren't too many) write well, some even very well, but this Faber-Castell M nib belongs to a higher category. Some people suspect that Faber-Castell uses a very similar nib for all their pens, even the Graf von Faber-Castell. The brand built the nib first and then scaled prices based on the quality of the rest of its parts. I used the Rohrer & Kligner blau ink for the first time, which had not worked very well with the rest of the pens. The Ambition does extract its qualities. I am sure that with the Waterman Serenity blue the result will be superlative.

You're welcome! My setup is very low tech. I record these videos with my phone and it's internal mic. I don't use a tripod. Instead, I attach my phone to two quarter inch dowel rods using rubber bands and prop the rods up over my work surface.

@@gadgetstop321 thank you very much for your response. Your video quality, framing, and lighting look good.
