How often does this need to be charged and how easy is it to charge it? Does it have to be removed from the S4 every time it needs to be charged? The whole setup seems a bit cumbersome for $1000 + rower. Wouldn't it be cool if the rower had a built in generator that charged the unit as you row.

Depends on usage, you can just pull it off the unit and attach a usb cable. True that, i guess they will be bringing out upgrades in that direction eventually.

I looked into the vommodule but at waterrowers site you need the v2 S4 monitor which is the same S4 but the back is a USB instead of a pin connection. U mentioned in a previous comment that this is by Bluetooth so I question why waterrower themselves are saying I need to upgrade to v2

The thing is the ComModule has the port that needs to be connected / plugged in to the back of the monitor, so you would need to upgrade to have the right connection at the back.

Does this show you the same information as the screen? I don’t understand the benefit? Please can you explain what’s different from the actual screen to the Bluetooth set up

basically you can see it larger on your Tablet and you can store workouts and have them with you anywhere as a training log.

What is the best software (for pc or phone) to use with this, both paid and unpaid? More interested in getting workouts set for me and making them interesting--more like Hydrow rower--than in tracking a lot of data. Especially interested in things that don't require a big monthly subscription. Thanks.

Id probably suggest Kinomaps, even though it has a monthly suscription, you can go for the lifetime option which is quite fair. You get lots of rowing videos to make your training more interesting. Check out the link by Waterrrower for compatible aps: www.waterrower.com/us/digital Kind greetings

I’m having trouble with this app and Module. Connected to the S4 monitor as pc is seen on the monitor display. phone is able to find the device via blue tooth. After “start rowing” is pressed. It does not counting the strokes marking time, nothing. Any advise?

I'd try to restart device, make sure it's fully charged and updated. See if there's any change

Same, mine just keeps flashing red - this is the 2nd module I've had as well, app says it's connected but nothings working

​@@Taffam try to remove the commodule, then remove the batteries from the monitor, wait around 5 minutes the reinstall the batteries and the commodul, try to reconnect. While connecting make sure all other bluetooth devices in the room are turned off.

Hi Nope this is only waterrower compatible. The connection is via Bluetooth to your tablet or smartphone, no physical connection required. Have a good Sunday

The bluetooth module has a mini USB plug on its back that plugs into the Waterrower‘s USB port

I've got the same problem. Mine is Apollo AR, that was a gift. There is a monitor but I'm struggling to find any app for it. Such a shame. I don't know if there is any software I could get for it?

Hi Basically any Bluetooth chest strap as it will be broadcasting to your phone or tablet, connected via Bluetooth. Polar h10, h7, garmin hrm dual etc

Hi Morgan Depends what goals you are chasing. If you just need a way to transfer the data to your smartphone / tablet and have app connectivity via Bluetooth the commodule is enough. Advantages of the smart row system is that it has an integrated power meter so it can very accurately track the dynamics of your stroke and give you replicable information. If you want to go down that route then the performance model wr is a good option as it has the smart row and tablet holders integrated as well as generally being a bit more sturdy. Hi Mario Yes you need to go to the setting in smart row and check the box allow accèss to strava. That way it has permission to use the data and the sessions will be synced. Good luck Johannes
