Some of your demonstrations may seem rather basic to an "experienced" ham, but let me tell you that to a novice like me, you have been a lifesaver. Your low key and courteous manner, coupled with your ability to explain in language we can all understand is un paralleled. Thank you for these video's and please keep them coming. I so look forward to them.

I’m an Electrical Engineer and this is the best explanation I’ve seen. I am a bulk power engineer and we don’t deal with harmonics often. I was most likely cutting class the day they were taught.

I do enjoy this channel very much, and it's nice to see the owner as a human being and not someone in a grey suit counting the money, don't spoil my thoughts Peter. once our house move is done , I have a half wave off you , our New garden is approx. 180 ft long by 70 ft wide, so an end fed sounds like a good idea.

Good description. I never did look at it that way. I was told that my 40 meter invert V wire dipole would work on 15 meters, but didn`t know why. One contest day, I was able to make contact with a station on Aland Island Finland from my base station in PA USA with 100 watts and no tuner on 15.

As a musician and ham... I have to tell you.. the craziest thing about antennas is that each band is a note. I’ve played all the bands in order and the notes make the da da da da.. da da. CHARGE!!!! Song

Very interesting. As well as being a licenced amateur I also play classical guitar and have been using harmonics musically for years, never thought to "transfer the boxes". You may already now this but harmonics can be found on the 5th, 7th, 12th and 19th fret. Enjoy your guitar.............and radio of course!

Thanks for sharing!
@KL3NCH4 жыл бұрын
You can find them on the 4th fret and (even if you practice) half way between the 4th and 5th. There actually lots of them but they start to become inaudible. A well made guitar makes this easier the higher you go. Those have duplicates too just like Peter showed with the 3rd on the 7th fret, but up the dusty end. Practice and experience tends to make harmonics easier. It starts to get difficult to avoid finishing every piece with an arpeggiated harmonic at the 12th fret ... Search out Tommy Emmanuel explaining and demonstrating harmonics, it's genuinely awesome.

Another demonstration using a guitar is how antennas work in general. Play an E on the B string, 5th fret (this would be the transmitter) and the open E string next to it will also vibrate slightly (the receiver) as it picks up the sound waves 🤪

Peter, Peter, Peter..3:52. "I don't know the reason for it...ie the harmonic relationship amongst the bands." Come , come Mr Waters. A man of our period of licence really should know! WE came in just as crystal control was being replaced by some pretty wobbly VFOs. They didn't matter on AM because the R1155 RX IF Band width was as wide a the Bristol Channel Choosing the right rock and with some intricate multiplying, could give you a Tx freq. all the way from Top Band (which had. really become Bottom Band until the comparatively recent release of 470 Khz) to 5 metres ..56 Mhz which we lost to the burgeoning Band 1 405 line monochrome, mono programme BBC TV. (Think that we had 2 & 1/2 metres as well..112 Mc/s!) ?..Not sure! One had a TX freq...put out a CQ and then announced that you were tuning (in the band) for a reply! It was unlikely to come back on your own QRG. Before its channelisation (what kind of word is that?) 2 metres still had that system until AM was replaced by the greatly inferior FM. 70s? After Spike Milligan's World Two War, Ham Radio was reintroduced with G3AAA but 21 Mhz was still to come. That's why there is no 15 metre band spread coil on National HRO receivers. As all this occurred, I as a callow youth, got my first girl friend who eventually had the good sense to clear off to Canada and marry somebody else. That gave me opportunity to become a pro/semi pro jazz musician who never had the chance to gig with you, the drummer.. Decode/decipher my user name to establish what I play. On a gig, realising that it was a social event for hams, I once played CQ CQ de G3NBY. di dah di dah dit..pse K on the mouth piece of my wind instrument.and the G8s in the party didn't even notice. Others were fascinated! I did it out of devilment on another gig, during the interval and just forgot about it. At the end, a guy came up and said, "Excuse me ..Are you G3NBY?" I was at bit non plussed.. "Er... Yes I am but how the devil.....?" He said "I used to be G3???? and I heard your call. I felt that SOMEBODY ought to have come back to you!" Remember, you never know who's listening. 73 de another Old Timer with an eighty metre tank coil.. Eighty turns. Just got the OBE... Over Bloody Eighty! OK on QRZ.Com
