About King Arthur: Legend of the Sword:
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

This movie was phenomenal. One of the best non-comic book action movies that came out in the last decade really. Critics ruined it. I cant believe people still listen to them. Most ppl who actually saw it loved it and rightfully so. Great story & plot , great acting , phenomenal sountracks , visually stunning , insane great pace , and my favorite - fast-paced witty dialogues with highest quality humour. And now we wont get to see a whole franchise with six movies of this yumminess thanx to tastless critics. I hate it here

This is definitely an audience movie. Critics hate it because it doesn't stay close to original tale, but for moviegoers, it's one of the greatest summer movies you'll see. Fun, wild, great soundtrack, and crazy VFX. Guy Ritchie is at his best here!

It's currently sitting at 28% on RT with critics, and all I thought was how, fuckin' HOW. Went to see it the other night and thought it was bloody fantastic, the atmosphere, the pacing, the action, the dialog, the effects, the story and the music were all awesome as far as I'm concerned. Best fantasy action film I've seen in years, we need more like it, fuck the critics

I don't care what anyone says, this movie was absolutely amazing and very unique in his the story was told. The characters would plan out what they were going to do, and as they were talking, it would show them completing the plan. I've never seen another movie do that. It was also unique on the camera movements too and how the characters are followed. This will forever remain one of my favorite movies. And this song goes perfectly with this scene and they put a lot of thought into this. Throughout the movie Arthur and The Mage had kind of a romantic undertone. It was never said but everyone knew that it was hinted at. In this scene she gives Arthur the venom, making him hallucinate. In this original song, it's about a hunter who went to see his love, and on the way back home, he started to feel the effects of a poison (nightshade) because his lover poisoned him.

Meaning: The Song has nothing to do with Suicide, but everything to do with hunting, appearances, and Death. It’s about a Huntsman who stayed out till dark and mistakingly ate Deadly Nightshade(ripe of the woody nightshade) mistaking it for an edible. He realized his mistake because Nightshade causes various symptoms, one of which is hallucination( the magic that the devil made) and the Huntsman believed he could yet be saved by “bleeding out the poison” which now ran through his blood(it’s not by bone, but yet by blade) Finally, “Oh father dear thy heavy safe. From the path that the devil made” is the brother, who survived and knew what the Huntsman had eaten, warns his father not to walk the same path the Huntsman had taken so as to avoid running into the same bush of Deadly Nightshade and potentially mistaking it for an edible like his deceased brother had just done.

The first 30 minutes of this movie is a masterpiece, it's unfortunate that it under performed due to the critics, I recommend watching it a minimum of two times to see what I am talking about. Guy Ritchie style for sure and Charlie was perfect, as was the rest of the cast. Great story and came together. Jude Law!! HOLY COW!!! AMAZING!!!

👉 *LYRICS for 'The Devil and The Huntsman' aka 'The Wild, Wild Berry'* 👈 _Young man came from hunting faint and weary_ _"What does ail my lord, my dearie?"_ _"Oh brother dear, let my bed be made_ _For I feel the gripe of the woody nightshade"_ _Many a man would die as soon_ _Out of the light of a mage's moon_ _'Twas not by bolt, but yet by blade_ _Can break the magic that the devil made_ _'Twas not by fire, but was forged in flame_ _That can drown the sorrows of a huntsman's pain_ _This young man he died fair soon_ _By the light of the hunters' moon_ _'Twas not by bolt, nor yet by blade_ [But] _of the berries of the woody nightshade_ _"Oh father dear lie here be safe_ (?) _From the path that the devil made"_ I can't find 'The Devil and The Huntsman' lyrics anywhere so I'm going from what I think it sounds like to me on this video. If anyone finds the lyrics or think it says something else please let me know. The line with (?) is the only one I'm having doubts with. ================================= *Song Info:* The original song, 'The Wild, Wild Berry' is possibly based on a Anglo-Scottish border ballad, 'Lord Randall' and tells the tale of Lord Randall returning home to his mother after visiting his lover. Through the mother's inquiry, it is gradually revealed that the Lord has been poisoned by his lover. 'The Devil and The Huntsman' by Sam Lee and Daniel Pemberton is based on Ray Driscoll of Dulwich, London version of 'Lord Randall' and is called 'The Wild, Wild Berry'. *Other Notes:* Printed in English Dance and Song, vol. 56 no. 3, Autumn 1994. Ray Driscoll was born in Ireland in 1922, but grew up in London. He learned 'The Wild, Wild Berry' and its unusual tune while living in Shropshire, from an itinerant farm worker called Harry Civil, who used to work on a nearby farm and slept in the barn. Harry was infamous in the locality and was thrown out of pubs on more than one occasion. 😊 *Ray Driscoll's 'The Wild, Wild Berry'* _Young man come from hunting, faint and weary_ _"What doth ail my lord, my dearie?"_ _"Oh mother dear, let my bed be made_ _For I feel the gripe of the woody nightshade."_ _Lie low, sweet Randal_ _Now all you young wains that do eat full well_ _And they that sup right merry_ _'Tis better, I entreat, to have toads for your meat_ _Than to eat of the wild, wild berry._ _This young man, he died eftsoon_ _By the light of a hunter's moon_ _'Twas not by bolt, nor yet by blade,_ _But the deathly gripe of the deadly nightshade._ _Lie low, sweet Randal_ _Now all you young men that do eat full well_ _And they that sup right merry_ _'Tis better, I entreat, to have toads for your meat_ _Than to eat of the wild, wild berry._ _This lord's false love, they hanged her high_ _For her deeds were the cause of her love to die_ _And within her locks, they entwined a braid_ _Of the leaves and berry of the deadly nightshade._ _Lie low, sweet Randal_ _Now all you young men that do eat full well_ _And they that sup right merry_ _'Tis better, I entreat, to have toads for your meat_ _Than to eat of the wild, wild berry._ **Thanks to Vyn Cent in the replies below for the info about Ray Driscoll. Tyler Webb they did not like it because it was not politically correct. It showed a strong male character, the King, defeating all enemies by power only he can wield. If Arthur would have been a trans-woman, Oscar nomination

Dragonlord the king of dragons actually there is no single Arthurian canon, just successive generations adding their own. Some versions have been more popular than others, but they are no more "correct" than any.

Critics are so bitter these days, they can't seem to find any joy in their sad lives... I saw the movie and I thought it was fantastic! The action scenes were amazing, and so were the dramatic and funny scenes. The story draws you in and the visuals are amazing; the scenes where they're running and the camera moves with them are stunning. The soundtrack is simply marvellous. I don't get why it was so criticized, and I don't particularly care. I just loved it :)

Dani S. It was good, but a lot of people in the comments section are overblowing it a little. It's not a Citizen Kane movie that was treated like The Emoji Movie. It was honestly as enjoyable as much as I do movies like Star Wars or Fantastic Beasts.

THIS MOVIE WAS FREAKING AMAZING I SAW IT TWICE IN THEATERS AND NOW I OWN IT! The acting was incredible, the cast was perfect and story was an original twist to an old tale! Why the heck didn’t it become a hit at the box office??? THIS MOVIE WAS ONE STEP AWAY FROM THE GREATNESS OF LOTR! The same epic vibes and every time I watch it, feels the excitement of the first time! This is definitely one of my faves!

In general I tend to trust the critics on rotten tomatoes and this movie got a very low score. BUT, I went to the cinema last night anyway and watched it and it was awesome. The casting is very good, the visual effects are awesome, the action scenes are badass and the director Guy Ritchie did a great job. The movie was unique, action packed, funny and well acted. Definitely reccomend it. Screw the critics on this one.

Never "trust" critics on rotten tomatoes. Always have a sense of source critisism on those sites. Rotten tomatoes is a pretty good way to generally see what kind of movie a certein movie is. The critics were right on this one though! They evaluate movies very technically which many audience reviews does not take into account. Critics look at the story in detail, script, pacing, editing and cinematography. So critics reviews are for movies who's generally good in a filmmaking sense, although it does have certain biases. But it does have a high audience rating which are generally based on "I liked the movie" and "I didn't like the movie". This movie really fails at everything a critic is looking for, therefore probably wont get a sequal because of its low box office numbers. Yet it did have some enjoyable moments, especially the Guy Ritchie fighting which are always peak!
