“Waterville’s Railroad Station 1872-1963” goes through the life and death of Waterville’s railroad station; from its design by one of the most famous Boston architects, to its ultimate demise in the name of the automobile. The presentation will include copies of the original architectural plans, minor artifacts, unseen photos from private collections, and 3D models.
Peter Violette is a Waterville native and is now a rail engineer in the Boston area. He has an interest in railroads, architecture, and Waterville history. For the last 5 years he has been researching the history of the railroad station for his 3D models. In addition to the station research, he is also working on modeling College Ave in the 1950’s and documenting Waterville’s urban renewal projects.
***An additional huge thank you to Peter for taking the video back and editing it after the multiple failures of the camera at the beginning of the presentation. He was able to recreate the video with a lot of extra work on his part.
