Hi, thank you for making the video and good advice. I just wanted to ask if the two 12V batteries are connected to make 24V, will they not get unbalanced over time. I would imagine in this case, a battery balancer will be needed, please let me know what you think your advice is valuable to all of us, thank you again for your time taken.
@texasprepperprojects

In theory, if you have two 12v batteries in series, that you use every single day, yes, there is a chance that, over time, they can get out of balance. If you are that worried about it then just keep a 12v charger like the one I reviewed a few weeks ago and every few months disconnect everything and charge them independently.

Unless i am missing something, the all in one also has a line interactive bypass (transfer switch) and control switches to chose the source (grid, solar, solar+grid,) plus output (batt, etc). This allows it to work as a UPS, with only 22W of power loss vs 10%. That is worth another $200 or so. I would pay a few dollars more if it also had 12V and 48V battery options, but 24V is a good choice. I like the small and low cost part.
@texasprepperprojects
@texasprepperprojects 8 күн бұрын
Yes. I think you are asking too much for multi voltage since the charger and the inverter has to be made specifically for that input voltage. Besides 24v is the best anyway
@mrhalfstep
@mrhalfstep 5 күн бұрын
You're right. You can program the priority that you want into this and other "all in ones" and it will act as a SUPER UPS. It will charge by solar as much as it can and will add in grid power if it needs it and it will provide AC power from solar if it is available and only use batteries when solar is unavailable. That discrete component system just can't compare.

@@texasprepperprojects - 2 AWG wire for the battery seems a little light. 3000 Watts at 90% efficiency is 3333 Watts. 3333(inverter input power)÷22(low battery cutoff volts)=151.5 Amps (which is close to the spare battery fuse you mentioned. 1/0 wire is good for 150 amps which is right on the bleeding edge. I would prefer to see 2/0 wire rated for 175 amps as it provides a little breathing room with that 150 amp fuse (looks like an ANL fuse). Remember, the fuse is sized to protect the wire. The wire is sized to support the maximum possible current draw.

One of the problems I have will all these low end combo's is, they are 120, We have 240 split phase. The other, I've been looking at these inverter with limiters that have a clamp on power monitor and only provide what you need simplifying when you are grid tied. But, again, I've only seen one brand, Sun I think it is, and they make a 120 and a 240 that is NOT split phase. They also are only the inverter and you can get them to ether take solar directly or battery. Still need the battery controllers because solar without batteries is a waste of money I think.

There's a technical difference between the all-in-one on the left and the separate items on the right, and that is isolation (separation) between the PV and AC sides. With the separate items there is transformer isolation (in the 24V > '400V' section of the Giandel inverter) between the DC and AC wiring so you can for example disconnect the PV and the MPPT charger's terminals are safe to touch. With the all-in-one potentially this is not the case. It's very very common for these things to have no transformer of any type between the PV and AC wiring - PV goes into the HVDC bus and the components that produce the AC output are also direct onto the HVDC bus. Disconnecting the PV does not make the inverter's PV terminals safe. Safe working practices will ensure you are fine but there's abundant examples of amateur youtube solar tinkerers getting a belt off the PV terminals on an all-in-one. Make sure *all* power sources, *all*, are disconnected before coming in touch with the terminals and that includes uninsulated screwdrivers. Keep safe.

Does this unit have the ability to throttle down the AC charger? 29.2 volts at 50 amps and assuming 90% charger efficiency is about 1622 Watts. My little ALP propane generator tops out at 850 Watts. At full charge current, this will easily overload my little generator. If I could back off the charger to 50%, the charge current would drop to 811 Watts and my little generator would be happy. Is there such a setting?
