I directed a library in a mid-sized town and it was like pulling teeth to get the smallest of grants. Libraries provide incredible resources to those who cannot afford to purchase them on their own. Some examples, picture books for children. I know I couldn’t have afforded to buy the amount of picture😅 books I read to my children. Computers for those who don’t have any in their homes. I could go on and on. It appalls me to think that we had to fight for a pittance and foreign countries were getting millions and billions for boondoggle projects. It’s about time this craziness is halted for good.

There will still be slush funds but there will be greater oversight and transparency. At work we had a slush fund to pay for a last minute strategic project request. OurFinance team and department head knew about it but would hold the money til the last quarter.
