Obama care screwed us since I have a handicapped son. Because of how much his insurance cost was, we couldn't afford insurance for the rest of the family then we got fined at the end of the year.
@peteradaniel8 жыл бұрын
lisa mawby so how much better off will your family be under Trumpcare? Because I certainly know that his insurance will be much more expensive, whatever age he is. Lol. You think things were tough under Obama? Lol. Good luck.
@barisax968 жыл бұрын
how do you "certainly know" that his changes to the health care system will be more expensive? personally under Obama I lost my job for almost 2 years. could NOT afford health care for my family and then like Lisa Mawby was fined for not being able to afford the affordable health care. under Trump he will start with getting rid of that fine so at least if I find myself in such a situation again I will not have to pay a fine just for losing my job and coverage.
@Jartny7 жыл бұрын
First of all, you did not lose your job because of Obama, stop being ridiculous. Secondly, if you lost your source of income you are entitled to Medicaid. Republicare is going be so much worse than what Obamacare was. We need a Medicare for all public option, it's the only way to solve this health care issue.
@LisaIsHappyToBeSane7 жыл бұрын
I didn't claim to lose my job. I still have a job. Second, my son is older than 18 but I still have to take care of him. Since he has never had a job, he doesn't qualify for disability because he had no ssi built up. He will never be able to work. Since he is older than 18 and I do not have kids younger than 18, I wouldn't qualify for any benefits, medicaid or medicare for him or me. Believe me, I have already been through all of this. Unless you have a handicapped child, you have no idea what we have been through because of Obama care. And if you meant that comment towards someone else losing their job, then you should know, no one qualifies for Medicaid if they don't have a child younger than 18.
@Jartny7 жыл бұрын
"No one qualifies for Medicaid if they don't have a child younger than 18" that is absolutely not true! Who ever told you this is a liar. I've had Medicaid when I was 25 and had no income. Secondly I think you said your son can't get disability because he never paid into SS? That's again false, I had a family member who got SSD and SSI because he was diagnosed as disabled as a adolescent. If your son will never work, he is entitled to Social Security disability benefits which is usually 600 hundred a month.

Here's the deal: I'm 71 years old--- I graduated from high school then received my BA and entered graduate school. Because I did things in the right order, I was able to get a good job, earn a good living and provide health care among other things for my family. I now don't want to pay for health care or quite frankly anything else for the people that did not do things in the right order. There are consequences to the decisions you make.
@LisaIsHappyToBeSane8 жыл бұрын
I know with Trump's plan, I won't be fined at the end of the year along with, I will be able to shop across state lines. Being able to shop across state lines will make insurance companies compete for my business which in turns will not only make cost go down, but I can shop for the cheapest, rather than stuck with just A or B.
@Jartny7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no, that's not how Republicare is going to work. Look at the actual bill instead of what they are telling you.
@LisaIsHappyToBeSane7 жыл бұрын
Well, anything has to be better than me paying 1,100 a month for my handicapped son on dialysis. Because of that cost, I can't afford insurance for the rest of the family then I get fined at the end of the year for not being able to afford insurance for the rest of the family. I got so screwed by Obama care. I have been looking at the bill, that is not complete yet, but more changes are to come. So far, you won't get fined but get rewarded towards taxes for the insurance you do have. And, yes so far the bill allows you to shop across state lines.

The government should never be involved with healthcare. No Constitutional mandate to give everyone healthcare. I'm a veteran, so I have V.A. healthcare and even THAT should not be given unless one has retired from the military (which in fact I have done). Serving two or four years without a military related disability should not give one V.A benefits. Only disabled and retired vets should get government care.

And in what way was it an issue? My comment was directed at "Jobs = health insurance" which insinuates getting a job gives you health insurance, which is not the case at all. A majority of people working do not receive health insurance through their job.
@Diozark7 жыл бұрын
Andromeda if you don't have health insurance through your job, find a better one. how was it an issue ? if you don't know the con job of the failed obamacare, then your just an internet troll.
@Jartny7 жыл бұрын
What you seem to be oblivious to is a majority of people on Obamacare need it because they can't get better jobs, either they can't afford a degree or are simply stuck in poverty. People can't just go out and get better jobs whenever they want, a lot of people are essentially stuck and have hit their glass ceiling. That is the whole reason the ACA is important, a majority of people don't get benefits from their jobs

While most Democrats have no idea how Obamacare works, most Republicans still don't know much about Ryancare either... Both are a bad idea. Healthcare was best before the government and insurance companies got involved. I'd love to just be able to go to the doctor and pay my bill on the way out... the end.

Ryan Schooler We don't know much, but to be honest, what happens if it's passed and it works well? Everyone thought Obamacare was going to revolutionize care and help EVERYONE, but in fact it did the opposite. Also has to pay yearly (some of my family has) , for not bring able to afford healthcare cause they make more than 13 $ an hr (40 hours a week& more than 18k a year) . Thats how it works 😔😒

Hearing americans talk about health care is so funny. In my country we pay 100 dollars a month for it and every treatment is for free. Hospitals and dentists never charge you.
@michaelroberts16625 жыл бұрын
Health insurance premiums are a very expensive monthly expense whether your employer withholds the premiums our you pay them directly. How can I significantly lower that monthly expense? Call it what you like mines Mike's insurance co. What I do is "self insure". How? Using easy and definable numbers to simplify the process I start by purchasing a say 500 to 1000 dollar deductible. The small savings in premium I put in a third savings acct, untouchable except for medical and prescription needs. Say only 100 a month savings however by the beginning of the second yr I have accumulated 1200 bucks. So I now shop the second yr for a 1500 dollar deductable, bigger monthly savings. My costs drop. I take that xtra 50 to 100 dollar a month premium savings and deposit that in the medical acct. Now the beginning of the third year I'm shopping for a 2500 to 4000 dollar deductible plan maybe more. My premiums are exponentially dropping as I now fit into a low risk insurance category. Years down the road when medical issues become more critical and insurance premiums have risen I'm purchasing monthly premiums at low risk insurance categories. See I now have 10, 20 or more thousand dollars in a medical savings account. Very low monthly premiums. Think it thru. In my later yrs I now pay the first 20,000 or more in medical costs insurance companies don't see me as an expense risk premiums are a third of regular costs, doesn't work for every condition but most. Remember the first yrs the fund is untouchable
@DavidEmerling793 жыл бұрын
Critiquing the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) by asking people, "Explain to me how it works" is actually kind of stupid. A lot of people cannot give you an extemporaneous explanation of how *any* health care plan works. Even the best plans are to some degree convoluted. Health care plans, by their very nature, because of the myriad of coverage possibilities, are complex. Surprising people by stopping them on the street and saying, "Tell me how it works" is just stupid - but, entertaining; which is usually the only goal Jessie Watters is trying to achieve.

Breit Bart Well considering that most of them believed Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were completely different things, I'd say their chances of realizing anything are slim to none.
@Tigadee005 жыл бұрын
If they were scammed, then it was because they were hurting and the only person who spoke and listened to them was Trump. Hillary didn't resonate with many voters, even traditional Democrat ones. That's why a lot of previously Democrat strongholds turned. Irrespective of whether Trump is a scammer or not, what's worse is that the Democrats still have not learned anything from 2016. All they care about are collusion charges and illegal aliens, rather than Americans aka the voters. If you want to get rid of Trump in 2020, reach out to the grassroots voters, the everyday Americans who have been hurt by the past two decades of poor political, economic and cultural leadership, talk to them about their problems and how you'll help them, and when you show they will have a reasonable and genuine voice for them, then they may turn away from Trump. Show that other politicians have got the people's back for economic improvement, public safety and societal stability - not childish grandstanding based on virtue signaling and empty campaign slogans.
