I'm really excited for your new survival series, and even more excited that your starter base is a ship!. I'm really into all things maritime, historical and modern. My father and I have had sailboats for as long as I can remember! There were several things in this video that you said you didn't know what they were called, and I'd love to tell you. Plus I have a suggestion or two for your build to make it feel more authentic! Please see below: * 4:34 - your ship, since it's a two masted square rigged sailing ship, is technically a "Brigantine" Pronounced (Brig-a-teen) or "Brig" for short. * 5:30 - I submit Mounty-Mc-Mount-Face as the mountain name. * 6:18 - in a ship, the storage room in the bottom is typically called the "hold" * 8:50 - I didn't notice the clicking of your keyboard at all * 12:00 - ramps or small bridges used to board or disembark ships are typically called "gangways" * 12:30 - flooring in a ship is typically called the "deck" * 12:31 - the back building is called the "Aftercastle" sometimes shortened to just "Aftcastle" the deck above the aftcastle is typically called the Quarterdeck, which is where the ship is usually steered from. * 12:42 - if they had cannons behind them the windows would be called gunports, since they don't have cannons behind them they are called portholes. *13:15 - I would suggest using a pattern of top slabs and full blocks so that from below the decks look like they're supported by beams * 13:20 - I would raise lowest deck (the bilge) up using cobblestone. the bottoms of old sailing ships like that used to be filled with stones as ballast to weigh them down and keep the ship from turning over. * 13:50 - the rope ladders leading up to the top of the masts were called ratlines * 14:18 - the room back there is usually called the great cabin or the captain's quarters. it typically had his bed, a desk to work at and a table for charts, dining, or meetings. * 15:39 - that cross member on the mast is called a yardarm, pronounced (yard-arm) and was used to hold up the top of the sails * 15:49 - you said flag, but based on what you did later in the video, I think you meant sails * 16:08 - the pretty statue on the front of old ships was called the figurehead, but I think you meant the sort of diagonal, mast looking, pole, which is called a bowsprit. * 16:23 - the big skylight was usually a removable section of floor called a grate, hatch, or cover. They were used to lower cargo into the hold * 19:18 - COBBLESTONE :D * 20:47 - larger ships had storage lockers or chicken coops up there ... * 20:52 - Figurehead or Bowsprit

KEYBOARD!! I love the way that one looks! You can order soft switches for your keys from that company. Essentially it will still be a mechanical keyboard but the clicky part underneath the key caps will be switched out to one that sounds and feels softer! there are also ways to go in and edit your sound threshold on your microphone software to filter out the sound of your keyboard clicking if you'd prefer to do it that way!

Wattles take out the lightning rods THEY DON'T PREVENT FIRE, they just attract lightning. They are meant to attract lighting AWAY from wood. Maybe leave just the one on the front of the ship, it should protect everything

To make my mechanical keyboard quieter, I put little rubber O rings under each key. It's a bit of work, but it does the job. It won't make it silent, but it dampens the sound significantly!

Also you can switch the switches inside the caps with stealth switches, same feel but less clicking noise, that combined with the o rings is perfect for your case. Check the not mentioned brand's website for stealth switches (green or blue I believe)

Where you want to have your storage room in you can have barrels there instead covering the floor or filing the floor with spruce or oak log. Because barrels look good and they even add more storage space.

Regarding your keyboard noise issue: There are a few things you can do to help. A thin foam mat under your keyboard may help. Mic position matters, you want your mic in front of your keyboard, especially if it's omnidirectional. Look into cardioid mics maybe if the problem persists. you can get an audio limiter or compressor, they will reduce the dynamic range of the audio signal. and you can adjust your mic levels in whatever recording software you use and I think there are limited level adjustments in windows itself too, but they are probably not very robust. edit: The thing at the front of a ship is called a figurehead, btw

Small correction, the figurehead is usually a decorative piece on the front under the ship, but most have long beams on the front called bowsprit's, the figurehead goes under the bowsprit on the hull😊 Most ships didnt have figureheads, but almost all have/had bowsprits

Weird comment but the powdered snow is unique to me. Could you see quick sand being applied to the game eventually with the sinking property. Probably suffocation instead of freezing/cold damage. The boat looks awsome, Quick tip: if you want to be more efficient with the space for the storage room, maybe you will consider making the ship's floor out of barrels. It gives it a nice pattern and as a bonusm you will have more storage downstairs. Keep it up!

Hey Wattles, I love the look of your new keyboard, and I think that mechanical keyboards are absolutely the best! Howeverrrrr, I have some suggestions on your sound issue. Some of the easiest ways to do this is with sound deafeners on the mic like pop filters or foam mats near the microphone or keyboard. Another thing that would probably work better would be software to change the sound being picked up by your mic. I’ve got the same issue as you, so I use Nvidia Broadcast which has a great AI that filters undesired sounds without much user input. Software is huuuuuge. I hope I helped though!

You need a trianglar mast by the front of the ship where the nose is. The nose should also extend out at a slight upward angle. Then if you get lanterns, hang em off the side of the ship as well cuz it'll look awesome. Bonus points for soul lanterns.

Wattles, if you're recording using OBS, a quick'n'dirty fix that works for 95% of my keyboard noise is to add a Noise Suppression filter to your mic input. Use the RNNoise setting. It filters out my mechanical keyboard's clickety-clacks unless I like, smash my keyboard on the edge of my desk. Unfortunately I didn't learn about this until recently, so my old videos have a ton of clackety. I even commit the sin of having my microphone behind my keyboard, and it seems to work really well.

The lightning rods need to be on a non flammable block for them to work the way you're hoping. For the bottom floor, use trapdoors. I think they would feel more shippy and you could hide more storage underneath

That boat is going to catch fire if you leave the lighting rod on top of and surrounded by wood, you need to set it on stone or something thats not flammable. Then again I don't think there are lighting storms in snow biomes since it doesn't rain, so you should be good Lol
