Lifewithpets We do! It will be a few more months, probably about four months old. We've found the sweet spot for selling is about three inches so that's what we aim for. They'll be available for sell when ready and we'll have videos of them on here at that time.

Does anyone know if a heater will help to keep parasite away like ich ? I have goldfish they don't have ich and are healthy but I heard that a heater will help with keeping fish parasite free. Don't know if that's true or not , I do know that turning your heater up will help with speeding up the ich cycle and kill them off faster . Goldfish prefer cooler water too so don't know if I should even put one in my tank or not , beautiful goldfish BTW.
@WaverlyGoldfish7 жыл бұрын
Proper quarantining when receiving new fish is generally the best preventative action you can take when it comes to parasites and diseases. As for heaters in general, we use heaters in some tanks and don't in others. For us it really depends on what we're actively trying to achieve with a specific fish at that point in time. Warmer temperatures speed up the metabolism and help them grow faster. Colder temperatures help their fins grow larger. Then there's the role of temperature in breeding, generally we will feed a high fat diet at 70 degrees for a month or so when preparing to breed a fish. Then we drop the temperature down to around 60 and feed much less for a few weeks. Then we'll raise the temperature back up to about 80 feeding very high protein food like blood worms to get them to spawn. So the short of it is that goldfish can live in a wide range of temperatures and different temperatures suit different purposes, if your goal involves a temperature that requires a heater then you should use one.

How come tou don't have to acclimate? Not having a go I just never see it done with goldfish and I am wondering why?
@WaverlyGoldfish8 жыл бұрын
Jenny from Solid Gold actually has done some really good talks about this in her videos. But the short of it is that because goldfish respirate so much ammonia, even well fasted fish release a good amount of it in the shipping bags. The carbon dioxide that they also respirate keeps the PH at a level where the ammonia is actually less toxic. When you open the bag however you let out the carbon dioxide and the PH pretty rapidly begins to change and the ammonia becomes much more toxic to the fish. Goldfish are primarily most sensitive to temperature fluctuations and are actually pretty tolerant of PH, GH, KH, etc. So with goldfish the additional stress of the ammonia in the bag just isn't worth it to drip acclimate whereas it's a lot more necessary with other kinds of fish. That's why you'll typically just see people float the unopened bags in the tank water to let the temperature match as the only acclimation.

Lol I notice that a lot too. I mean yeah take great care of fish but I see no matter if you have a 50g tank there's always someone screaming "get a bigger tank!!!!" Also, keeping different fish together, as long as they get along and aren't aggressive its perfectly fine.
@briannaharter44118 жыл бұрын
there's nothing wrong with the tank sizes.however a lot more goes into keeping fish together then just how well they get along. tempter and water parameters also have a impact on what kinds of fish to keep together.cold waters may survie in warmer waters but it's not really healthy for them to be in tropical tempters cause there is less oxygen,it speeds up their metabolic rate and stresses the fish out.plus there are a bunch of diseases that can transfer between tropical fish and cold water fish do to the tempters they prefer. I once talked to a person who thought it was okay to mix cold water fish with tropical fish.the fish he was keeping was white clouds and the fish got along just fine.but the white clouds kept getting ick cause they were stressed from the heat.once the white cloud were transferred to a cold water tank they stopped getting sick.

@kayleegrandstaff69938 жыл бұрын
+Jasper Dumas that'll be fine. their hardy and can thrive in cooler and warmer temperatures
@WaverlyGoldfish8 жыл бұрын
+Jasper Dumas In theory as long as you've got enough water volume to support the number of fish you have then it shouldn't be an issue. What I would caution is to not mix the double tailed goldfish breeds with them. This is simply to make sure that the goldfish can compete properly for food to get what they need. Single tailed breeds will be better able to keep up with the angels to make sure their getting enough food. Of course the problem with that is that single tails tend to need more water per fish!
@jayscrazzyobsessions43048 жыл бұрын

poor fish/rip fish ? No plants, no substrate, no acclimatization to parameters and temperature, too small tanks, overpopulation, no nitrogen cycle. Goldfish need -30/50 liters for 1 fish, they need to be several so buy a big tank. Read books, watch websites. that's sad and disrespectful for living beings!
@LordToadie5 жыл бұрын
1. Goldfish will eat and uproot most plants. 2. Whilst sand is one of the best/safest substrates for goldfish, it is easier for breeders to keep up maintenance if the tank is bare bottom. 3. When fish are shipped (as these ones were) it is best to only acclimate them to temperature (which they were) it takes weeks for fish to be acclimatised to water perimeters and it is actually more harmful to open the bag to do so if the fish has been shipped. 4. These tanks look like they are around 40 gallons each ( around 160 litres- correct me if my math is wrong), which can house 2-3 fancy goldfish. I believe that the large sponge filters will make up for this as well as large water changes. This may also just be a quarantine tank and not a forever home. 5. No responsible fish keeper would put fish in a tank that hasn’t been properly cycled. Obviously we don’t know his water parameters but the owner seems to know what they’re doing and so we mustn’t assume that the tank isn’t cycled. I honestly don’t know why you think it isn’t.
