We have a truck driver friend who always waves at my husband when he drives over a Mississippi River bridge. My husband is a tow boat pilot. I doubt they've ever been near the same bridge at the same time, but our friend still waves, even if he doesn't see a tow going by below. And that's what happened here. You waved at Hank, whether he was there to see it or not. I don't know why some of your commenters below don't get that. I totally did.

I’ve waved at all the cabins in that stretch as long as I can remember. First time I heard one them places “might be” Hank Williams Jr.’s, I started waving, and asking folks. Still don’t know, but I wave. 🤷🏼‍♂️👍🏻 I think it’s a southern thing. We wave. (It’s always been a tradition to step outside the wheelhouse and wave at same company vessels.. and friends, of course)

I’ve seen his cabin at Catfish Point from the river before. He put some $$$ into it. I worked at Concordia hunting club at the caretaker in the 90s. Hank used to hunt there all the time during turkey season. Hank’s was all cypress. I don’t know if the flood of 2011 got it or not.

I grew up and worked on the Ms. River. Most of my family are river rats too. Tug boat and Ship pilots. I was a deckhand on the old Mississippi Queen in the late 80s when it was only her and the Delta Queen. It was my first real job. I ended up joining the Army. I enjoyed the lazy trips up n down the river. My ship pilot family are Nobra. The pilot them from New Orleans to Baton Rouge..

Good morning Capt! You are correct about the grass landing strip, and roughly the placement of it. Confirmed it with two sites, one indicates a parking area near the runway. The homes along there appear to be part of a large tract of undivided property, membership hunting club perhaps? Anyone, nothing individually deeded there to indicate ownership by individuals.

@@timothyboone5003 yeah, it’s been 10 years ago when I was at a home next door to his house at Paris Landing and you are right it’s not seen from the water. It’s a big house but nothing out of the ordinary for that area other than being a good size lot.

David Oden That’s correct nothing extravagant, and it sits back far enough off the road it’s not even really noticeable. I ate breakfast with his assistant yesterday morning. I asked if his house had sold yet. He said not yet. Hank has a sizable farm not very far from that house that has a private lake and a couple cabins on it. That’s where he has been calling home. The man has had it rough the last couple of years. Losing a daughter and a wife all in such a short time span has to be rough on a fellow.

David Oden Being on a jet ski would certainly open up the area you could try to get a view from. But I rarely see anyone that far in the back of Big Eagle Bay unless it’s a bass fisherman trolling through. The water is just too shallow and dangerous for pleasure boaters to make use of. I’m very familiar with the old grainery. I’m not around it as much as I used to be. But I still make 3 or 4 visits every summer. I grew up in a commercial fishing/diving family that applied their trades from Danville to the Ky State line. My father continued to commercial fish up till the day he passed away. ( he just passed away 01/12/23) I’m quite knowledgeable of that area and South to Turkey Creek. I also was a towboater for little over 15 years. The waterways have been a way of life for me. As far as Hank, other than him being a neighbor I’m not around him anymore. When I was a young boy my stepfather and Hank were good friends. My stepfather always stored some of Hanks car collection in his garage. I’ll never forget the times he would take me to get ice cream in Hanks I believe it was a 57 Chevy. The license plate was HankJr. That car would always draw a lot of attention. Now days I live about 5 miles east of Paris Landing.

m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZS0f55_p8xgis0 Filming location was mm175 to mm190 Cumberland River. The boat was originally the Blake Robison. At the time of filming it was the Glenn A owned by Hunter Marine. The name was change to honor Hanks mother in the video. The boat was later sold to Pinebluff Sand and Gravel. The barge that Hank is on, the 427 was sent to be scraped sometime around 2011. Mr Ron Hunter passed away and now Hines Furlong owns the fleet where most of the filming took place.
