2019 FO - 2020 AU Wawrinka was seriously dangerous. His low ranking gave him some impossible draws unfortunately, but in that time he beat Tsitsipas, Djokovic and Medvedev at slams In my opinion, had he clinched the first set against Med in the US Q finals (who was feining an injury during) he goes on to win the tourney

Stan was never going to beat Nadal in the final, whilst Stan can still hit bombs on a good day, he lost his physicality to grind since his injury from 2017. You can see most of his matches these days, his level drops off significantly past the 2 hour mark. Rafa went toe to toe with Med over 4 hours, Stan would be out of gas way before that. Sure he out grinds Tsitsipas here, but Rafa is not gonna let his level slip imo.
