I've been trying to figure this out for a while, I think it's cause his music is hard to appreciate unless you're CLOSELY listening to his words and understanding what he's doing with his flows. Most people just want to turn on something thats catchy. That's why his most popular song "Rosanna" blew up, not causes it's that classic wax rap that's insanely in depth, but because it has a catchy beat and simple lyrics you don't have to think much about.
