Can the wax resist be so thinned down so that is not a solid barrier but instead a fragile layer between the base glaze and the second glaze? Upon firing would it produce a slight crawling effect- I hope..

I loved this technique - in simple terms of course! Do you ever glaze a colour then wax a pattern and carve back then glaze again?

Should you wait a certain amount of time to add the wax over top of the glaze or is it okay to apply immediately after it dries? Thanks

Can you use wax (add, dip, and then remove, dip in clear) for a breakthrough look of raw without actually having raw zones? Or would that be a different technique?
@EarthNationCeramics4 жыл бұрын
You can do that it's just a little more difficult

beautiful 😍 maybe worth mentioning to some newbies (like myself) to not use warm water to sponge of acces over wax 😂 I didn't think of it once but luckily it was just foot :P

@@EarthNationCeramics could this be done in reduction firing? The crystals. I recently built a gas fire kiln out of wild clay and am about to start testing all of the different clay samples I have, and really love the crystals I am seeing everyone is doing, but they all use electric kilns, so I'm just wondering if it is possible for me to do in mine and it have a similar look to urs.
@nathanspevack16974 жыл бұрын
@@michellemooney1460 I don't believe you can get crystals in a reduction firing. I've never tried so I'm not an expert, but based on what I do know about crystal glazes - you can't get the crystals to form in reduction. Look at about the 5 min mark in this video for further explanation from someone who knows more than me - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5vPZnuBbLuBfbM&ab_channel=OrchardValleyCeramicArtsGuild
