God willing, I'll listen every time the song enters my feed. 😢😂 My Dad had a fourth grade education. He and my mother raised ten of us. We were never on welfare. We took a handout now and then, especially during the winter. A strong work ethic was primary in what they taught us. They are gone now and have been for some time. Our loving, successful families continue to grow ( a continual four living, four generations). We play and sing music, as my parents did. It's a beautiful song and reminds me of our loved ones. 😢😂 Praise the Lord! 😊

This song takes my mind to the hills of AR, not the mountains there but hills around Batesville. Dad was raised in that area during the 20's. Thanks for the song and playing music.

Excellent cover of an excellent song, from an awesome band! Like you, I have fallen in love with many of the old Front Range ballads, especially "The Hills That I Call Home" and "One Beautiful Day". Your harmonies are nicely done. Keep up the good work!

Paul, I'm enjoying listening to this song. I have played it over and over. I have also went and enjoyed the song of The Morris Brothers along with some more segments. I really enjoyed listening to them not only sing but also their story of their body shop the talk of enjoying Sunday without working...we just talked about this Wednesday night church service how families used to live like this enjoying a day of rest. Oh, one of my favorites of you and Pap singing is playing right now as i am writing "Way Back in The Hills." I'm looking forward to more songs. Also, more of Granny and Pap. Debbie

@nateamos91 NICE! WHERE has your dad been since with Front Range? My husband and I used to go see them here in Newark, Delaware years ago at a church... I know one of the members died sadly... but was wondering what became of your dad and the rest of the group, LOVE them and this is my FAV song they did. Please give your dad "regards" for us, miss his voice and the music of Front Range band (: ~~ DELAWARE Gal ~~

No Way! You're kidding! He is one of the most phenomenal banjo players to ever pick up the five string. Please tell him that he and the rest of the guys in that band were the best bluegrass band to form since the Country Gentlemen and the Nashville Bluegrass Band. Front Range was immensely original in their material and the most under-rated band ever. You should check out your teacher's playing on Buffalo Plains, Fergus County Jail, and Home in San Antone. Thanks for commenting.

@BlindPigAndTheAcorn I was born in Central Valley, California, to a Mexican-American family. Thank you, Jesus. But there's something that draws me too, in appreciation, of Southern Gospel music. Of course, It has to be the Holy Spirit! Amen. When I was young man, I attended a local Pentecostal church. I had learned to play the harmonica and told the worship music played at the church would fit my blues and bluegrass roots. That helped me decide. However, my main concern was an attempt to know God better in hopes that He would intercede and save my marriage. The wife, God bless her, would have none of it. My first visit, upon hearing the word, followed by Southern praise music, brought goosebumps and tears of sorrow and joy! Praise the Lord! I returned to the church 2 or 3 times. I purchased 5 or six different keyed harmonicas. That last drive home, I sacrificed them out the truck window. Again, asking the Lord for help in saving my marriage. Subsequently, we ended the marriage. I went on to live in the world, a life of iniquity, playing the stage of blues music. Twentynine years passed. My life was filled with events that should have had me dead or in prison. But God is faithful! Hallelujah! By His grace, He made aware of His love. Through prayer, the word, confessing, forgiveness, and above all, faith in believing that He was, and Is, and forever Shall, I was found! Now, with joy and gratitude in my heart, I boldy proclaim, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. GLORY HALLELUJAH! Amen.

Wow! I almost feel like pulling the song and trying to do a much better job. We missed a chord & hit a sour note. Mr. Amos is perhaps the most amazing song writer of the last 20 years. "Way Back in the Hills," "The Hills that I Call Home," "Fergus County Jail," "Buffalo Plains," "Jenny Dear," "The Lantern," "Without You," all masterpieces. Thanks for the comment. I'll try not to shudder at the thought of your dad watching our treatment of his song.
