Way of the Warrior - Way of the Samurai [4/4]

Here it is again! Finally! Sorry for the wait and I would like to thank everyone who msged me about the 4th part of this wonderful documentary for their patience.
Part of a eight part series documentary on the Martial Arts of south and south east Asia, originally broadcast on the BBC in the early 1980s. This episode follows an ancient Dojo in Japan who still practice the Samurai way. Part 4 of 4 parts.

This is the best documentary film I have ever seen about kenjutsu (iaijutsu etc.).See (and hear) a "samurai" is much different than reading about them.I am happy to see there are still people who do these martial atrs really serious.The Way of the Samurai cannot disappear.

I recognize the hand signs, this style has influenced "Naruto" greatly,i like how the animators kept a sense of tradition in the anime.

japan had the most amzing history, i can't believe they modernized it, they had peace during the samurai era. Good thing they never let it die.

Thank you very much for sharing the 4 parts of this program. Ataki-san and his philosophy in relation to bushido and his complete dedication and expertise in this ancient art, make me wish that I had known of him when I lived in Japan, so that I could have sort him out. I have a great attachment to Japanese people and their culture, and now that I speak the language quite fluently, I will most certainly make an effort to pay my respects to him in future. What a wonderful documentary !

It is important to realize that Musashi saw himself as a student and went around pursuing an education. He was not blood-thirsty and, with the exception of when he was very young and admittedly possessed of an ignorant stupidity, he never killed unless it was unavoidable. It is said that he often avoided matches where a life could be lost. The people Sensei Itaki believes are to be despised were those who went about fighting for the sole purpose of seeking fame or the pleasure of taking life.
