Newslaundry’s Manisha Pande and The News Minute’s Dhanya Rajendran travel to Wayanad in northern Kerala to look at the bitter battle between the Left and Congress, who have been trading allegations against each other of being the ‘B-Team’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Manisha and Dhanya also speak to two candidates from Wayanad - CPI’s Annie Raja and BJP’s K Surendran - and follow their campaign. The two sit down at Calicut’s famous restaurant Paragon to discuss food politics in a state where beef and boeuf are very much part of everyday cuisine. Finally, they also speak to people to ask them what their issues are in this election.

@@Maikashmiri I'm not here to defend BJP or Congress. In India, all the elections are fought in one name. Every time it is in the name of the prime minister. In Congress era, it used to be Nehru ji, Indra ji, Rajeev Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi. Now is the same case with Narendra Modi.

@@mmpasupati no that’s not correct sir. I have not seen leaders of congress using the prime name but their own and it should be like that only. The leader of any particular constituency should talk about the developments they’ve done or going to do not just getting over with saying the name Modi Modi. Even tho if they’re using the Modi brand name what has Modi done nothing just corruption.

@@Maikashmiri there is reason behind it, in 2019 election Congress used different slogan to attack Modi and that didn't work instead it hurt them a lot. Ind.i.a alliance, big leaders advised not to attack Modi. As per alliance, Modi has a good image among people and it was advised not to use a bad slogan against him. If you this time the narrative is very different from the last election. This time they are using words like dictatorship and democracy is in danger. And for bjp it works when they talk negatively about Rahul Gandhi. Bcs in the last 15 years negative images have been created for Gandhi. When I say negative it has many meanings.
