This is my biggest issue with Corporate Hollywood. There are certain talents you just give them the check and get out of the way until they fail. But too many people who don't know anything about creativity just have to put their 2 cents in which in the long run is worth less than that. Edit: This is not just Hollywood. In another life I worked contract corporate wellness and witnessed this in so many different industries. It's amazing what egos will do.

Ehhhh.... I used to think this, but these days after watching films I will go watch interviews or read production notes, and it opened my eyes to the fact that sometimes Hollywood execs/corporate Hollywood IS correct. It might seem shocking, but stuff like Sky Captain, or True Romance, or Shawshank Redemption, or a few other classics actually had some REALLY good input by the execs that put them in the legendary category due to some simple scene suggestions, ending sugegstions, or even colour suggestions. It really makes you appreciate the films more realising that it is true what they say about the collaborative process of creating films and music and games. So while it is true that some meddling execs will seek to ruin a film because they don't understand it, I find that the reverse is equally as true about some meddling execs actually making the film far better than what it could have been without their meddling. I mean really, you have to admit the Shawshank ending is a good payoff to a great story, and that ending is only there due to meddling execs.

​@@Billy-bc8pk I think this is a bit of splitting hairs. Yes, you can make the case for outside input. Case in point, Star Wars. There's distinct difference between the original trilogy and the prequels and a lot of people have expressed this is due to how much input others had in comparison to Lucas. So yes, one should be open to outside input. But there's a difference between giving some thoughts, notes and changing the tone of a film or even the direction of it when that is not part of the process. Now if you actually make that input part of the progress like say the early days of Pixar. then that works. But when you have a talent, that has established themselves and a track record for delivering. Then you stay in your lane. And this goes both ways. I will take again Disney for example. When the heads of Pixar took over Disney animation they wanted to show they could deliver a great 2D movie. A conflict arose though with the name. For the record there's a long history of Disney execs/marketing dept arguing about what to name a film. The marketing department told them they needed a different name. There reason was that parents think in short bursts and if they didn't change the name the first impression would alienate audiences with sons. They disagreed and Catmull himself wrote that is was a hug mistake. Why? Because by calling their movie 'The Princess and the Frog," they gave the impression the movie was just for girls. So a family with a daughter and son is not going to pay theater money to go see it. And the box office showed it. The next venture they listened to marketing and called the movie "Tangled," to give it more appeal. I would still argue that more often than to the exec input is worse then the creative's vision. Especially when the stories venture to stories/comedy based in specific ethnic or regional culture.

Films like Matrix, LOTR, Harry Potter, X-MEN, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spider-Man, etc gave the fans what they wanted.
